7 BEFORE USING THIS REAR PROJECTION TV Note This is not an integrated digital TV. To watch di gital broadcast programs (if available), y ou have to purchase a Digital Set-Top Box that will receiv e and decode digital broadcast signals and input to the TV via the component input terminals.
8 Precautions when using the batteries ķ Do not use old and new batteries together. ĸ Do not use different types of batteries (for exam ple, Manganese and A lkaline batteries) together. Ĺ Remov e the batteries from the remote control unit if you do not intend to use the unit for long periods of time.

11 FUNCTIONAL PARTS Remark: The ENTER button is used to set or confirm MENU, please see page 13 for details. The Ÿ P+ ź P - buttons are used as up , down, left and right cursor buttons. Alternatively, Ÿ P+ / ź P- can be used as program up and down buttons and as volume down and up buttons.
12 GETTING STARTED Power on/off TO TURN THE PO WER ON Press the POWER button on the TV set. The power indicator will light up to indicate that the power is on. WHEN THE SET IS AT STANDBY The TV will be in standby m ode and the blue power indicator becomes dim mer if the TV set is turned off using the bu tton on the remote control unit.
13 GETTING ST AR TED Instructions f or operating menu ƽ Before watching the TV , please familiarize yourself with this method to use the m enu function of this TV . ƽ Instructions in this manual are based on using the remote control unit. The words or sym bols with frames refer to the buttons on the remote control unit.
14 GETTING STARTED Selecting the on-screen d isplay language You can choose from two different languages (Chinese and English) for the on- screen displays. When necessary , you m ay change display language followi ng the procedures below. 1 Press the MENU button to display m enu as shown on the right.
15 GETTING STARTED Easy Preset It becomes conv enient for the customers to program the TV using the remote control unit and detailed OSD of the TV set. Please follow th e procedures below to start tuning. 1 Press the MENU button to display m enu. Press the Ÿ ź cursor buttons to select the Setup option.

28 ON-SCREEN DISPLAY MENU Ǐ SETUP MENU ǐ Ǐ Auto Link ǐ Use this function to automatically switch on the TV and switch it to AV1 or AV5 mode when it detects a video signal from INPUT1 or INPU T5 terminal of the T V. It provides y ou ease when using with your external equipment .
29 ON-SCREEN DIPLAY MENU Ǐ SETUP MENU ǐ Ǐ Speaker ǐ Follow the steps on pa ge 21 to enter the Setup menu, t hen select the Speak er option as shown on the right. Press the ŻŹ cursor buttons to set the Speaker option On or Off to turn on or off the speakers of the TV.
30 MAGIC FOCUS Over a period of tim e, the picture tube s can drif t out of alig nme nt due to abnorm al bumps and vibrations or shifting of the T V. You ma y then notice that there are color ring s or halos ar ound the objects in the picture. You m ay have to c onverg e (align) the col ors (refer to note*1).
31 MULTI PICTURE The Multi Picture function on this projection TV provides two m odes, Split and P in P . To use the Multi Picture function allows y ou to enjoy the program s easily and com fortably . In norm al picture mode, press the MULTI PIC. button to enter the Split or P in P mode.
32 MULTI PICTURE Ǐ P in P ǐ Follow the steps on page 20 to enter the Function m enu and then select the Multi Picture option as shown on the right. Press the ŻŹ cursor buttons to set the Multi Picture option to P in P m ode, then exit from the m enu.
33 TV SCAN FUNCTION The TV Scan function on this TV provides two m odes, mode 3 and m ode 12 . To use this function allows y ou to enjoy the program s easily and comfortably . While in a normal picture m ode, press the TV SCAN button to enter mode 3 or m ode 12 .
34 TV SCAN FUNCTION Ǐ Mode 12 ǐ Follow the steps on page 20 to enter the Function menu and then select the TV Scan option as shown on the right. Press the ŻŹ cursor buttons to set the TV Scan opti on to mode 12 , then qui t the menu. ƽ In norm al TV mode, press the TV SCAN button to enter mode 12 (12- picture) as shown below.
35 AV NET The TV has the AV NET f unction. This function enabl es you to control your audio/v ideo equipment such as VCR, DVD play er, Set-Top-Box, etc w ith the remote control function. Yo u can control y our equipment with the applied remote control unit of the TV after using this function.
36 AV NET Ǐ Setting up the type codes and the input terminal s of the external audio/video equipm ent ǐ You must set up the Type and Input of the c orresponding audio/v ideo equip ment after the audio/vi deo equipment and the I R BLASTER cable are connected to the TV so that y ou can control y our external equipm ent with the AV NE T function.
37 AV NET 4. Press the Ź cursor button to enter the Input item of DVD as shown below. Press the Ÿź c ursor buttons to select the terminal connected to your exte rnal audio/v ideo equipment. You can choose Off , AV1 , AV2 , AV 3 , AV4 or AV 5 . AV1 is chosen as the DVD play er in the exampl e is connected to the INPUT1 terminals.
38 AV NET Ǐ Using the AV NET function ǐ You can use the AV NET function if the test succeeded. The DVD player which is connected to the INPU T1 terminals is used as an exam ple to illustrate how to use the AV NET function. 1. Press the AV NET button to display the menu as sho wn on the right.
39 AV NET Ǐ How to learn the remote code of the external audio/video equipment ǐ It enables y ou to realize the AV NE T function by using this function if y our external audi o/vi deo equipment’s brands are not in the type code list.
