Initial Setup When you turn your GPS-8 1 0 on f or the first time, the S etup Wizard will appear . The Wizard will guide you thr ough the GPS-8 1 0 ’ s initial setup steps: When you touch the N EXT button on the P LEA S E S ET THE T IME screen, the GPS-8 1 0 will display the N AV I G AT I O N screen (see page 9).
Na vigation After you complet e the initial setup steps, the N A VI G A TION screen ( right ) appears. Planning a Trip T o begin navigation, touch the P LAN A T RI P button. The W HERE W OULD Y OU L IKE T O G O ? screen ( right ) appears. The W HERE W OULD Y OU L IKE T O G O ? screen giv es you several ways to plan y our trip .
3. S pell the name of the desired city . When you hav e finished, touch the D ONE button. The E NTER S TREET N AME screen ( right ) appears. • I n most cases, once y ou ’ve entered some letters , the screen will display all of the cities that fit.
T O N A VIGA TE T O A P LACE : 1. T ouch the P LACE button on the W HERE W OULD Y OU L IKE T O G O ? screen (see page 9). The F IND A P LACE screen ( right ) appears. 2. S elec t the desired area. The S ELECT A C AT E G ORY screen ( right ) appears. (If you know the name of the place, y ou can enter it instead of searching by cat egor y .
3. T ouch the G O button to begin navigation. The map screen will appear . Once you star t driving, the GPS-8 1 0 will guide you to the cent er of the city you selected. ( See Navigating to Y our Destination, on page 14.) N A VIGA TING T O AN I NTERSEC TION : 1.

C ONFIRM A DDRE SS S CREEN O P TION S Besides touching the G O button to begin navigation, the C ONFIRM A DDRE SS screen (see page 14) also giv es you these options: V IEW M AP : T ouch to see a map showing your destination. Y ou can change the map view and zoom the view in and out (see Map Screen Options , on page 15).
M A P S CREEN O P TION S M AP S CREEN L OCK /U NL OCK B UTTON : T ouching this button locks and unlocks the map screen. When the map screen is unlocked, you can mo ve the map posi - tion by moving y our finger on the touch - screen in the direction you want the map to move.
Navigation Options While you ’r e navigating , touch - ing the M ENU button on the M A P screen (see page 14) display s the N AV I G AT I O N screen ( right ). P LAN A T RIP B UT T ON : Lets y ou select a different navigation destination. ( S ee Planning a T rip, on page 9.

Changing Navigation Settings T ouching the N AV I G A TION S ET TIN GS button displays the N AV I G A TION S E T TIN GS screen ( right ). A VOIDANCES : When the GPS-8 1 0 calculates navigation routes .

Pla ying Music, V ideo and Photo F iles In addition to its navigation functions, your GPS-8 1 0 can play your music and video files and display your phot os.
T O T RANSFER F ILES TO THE GPS -810 IN MTP M ODE : 1. Inser t an S D card into the GPS-8 1 0 ’s S D card slot (see page 4). 2. Make sure the U S B cable is disconnected from the GPS-8 1 0 . 3. S et the GPS-8 1 0 ’s U S B mode to MT P (see page 2 0 ).
U S B M A SS S TOR A G E The U S B Mass S torage mode lets you transf er files the using drag - and - drop method on your computer – the same method y ou use to transfer files from one folder or driv e to another .
Listening to Music T ouch the M U S IC button on the S OURCE screen. The Music menu ( right ) will appear . Y ou can sor t and play your music by touching the A RTI S T S , A LBUM , G ENRE , P LA YLI S T , F OLDER S or S ON GS buttons.
B Y A LBUM : T ouching the A LBUM button displays an alphabetical list of all of the albums with songs stored on the S D car d. T ouch the button for the album you want, then touch the button f or the song you want to hear .
Looking at Photos T ouch the P HOT O S button on the S OURCE screen. The P HOTO S screen ( top , right ) will appear , listing all of the folders on y our S D card that contain photos . T o look at photos, use the S croll U P /DOWN buttons t o find the folder y ou want, then touch its button.
U sing W ith a Bluetooth Phone Y our GPS-8 1 0 has calling features that can be used with a Bluetooth - enabled phone. Bef ore using the GPS-8 1 0 ’ s phone features, please r ead the instructions for your particular Bluetooth phone.
Placing and Receiving Phone Calls T ouching the P HONE button on the S OURCE screen display s a screen f or your par ticular phone. There ar e several way s you can place calls ( belo w ). P LACIN G C ALL S FROM THE P HONEBOOK OR C ALL H I S TO RY T ouching the buttons displays a list of entries ( right ).
Changing Settings T ouching the S ET TIN GS button on the S OURCE screen (see page 19) displays the S ET TIN GS screen ( right ). This lets you change any of these GPS-8 1 0 settings: Brightness The B RI G HTNE SS button lets you adjust the GPS-8 1 0 ’s screen brightness so you can clearly see it in various lighting conditions.
Audio Out The Audio Out butt on lets you adjust the V olume Mixer and the F M S ettings ( below , left ). V OL UME M IXER : Lets you adjust the r elative v olume levels of the navigation voice guidanc e, music and video files and cell phone ( abo ve, right ).
7. I f you regularly trav el between cities with differ - ent active FM channels , you may need to find channels that are not broadcasting in each city . Y our GPS-8 1 0 can store up t o 5 preset F M transmit channels ( right ), so you can easily switch t o the best FM channel f or each cit y .

U sing the Remote C ontrol The included wireless r emote lets you c ontrol the GPS-8 1 0 from up t o 2 0 feet away . The remote w orks by RF , so the remote does not need a clear ‘ line of sight ’ bet ween itself and the GPS-8 1 0 for it t o work.
