Excalibur SE Installation This section of the manual describes the installation procedures for the American Dynamics Excalibur SE Graphical Security W orkstation. Excalibur SE programs operate on an IBM-compatible Personal Computer (PC), under the W indows operating system.
SYSTEM INSTALLATION Because the features of Excalibur SE and the Matrix Switching System are so versatile, it is important to plan the installation carefully to gain full advantage of these features.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION Installing Excalibur SE System Programs Installation of the Excalibur SE software programs is described in the Excalibur SE Installation and Setup Instructions manual, OP5400SPA. When installation is complete, the Excalibur SE Program Group, illustrated below, is available in the Windows Program Manager window.
EXCALIBUR SE WINDOWS It is assumed that the user is familiar with Windows operating procedures, and has experience in using Windows applications. This manual does not explain "standard" Windows functions, operating procedures, and dialog boxes, unless they differ from Windows standards.

Excalibur SE This section of the manual describes the Excalibur SE program operating procedures. The Excalibur SE program provides the primary user interface for control and operation of the connected Matrix Switching Systems.
SYSTEM SECURITY Excalibur SE is designed for security operations. It incorporates features to minimize the possibility that the system can be misused. These features include operator login/logout and access privileges/restrictions.
EXCALIBUR SE PROGRAM Excalibur SE is a user interface program for AD Matrix Switchers. It allows the operator to call and control cameras and monitors of the switching system. To start Excalibur SE, open its icon from the Excalibur SE Program Group window.
AD Keyboard The “AD Keyboard” menu function brings up a keyboard dialog box that operates like an American Dynamics model 2078 keyboard. This on-screen keyboard may be used in the same manner as the AD keyboard to control the Matrix Switching System.
2-5 EXCALIBUR SE Preset The lower right section of the keyboard provides several special keyboard buttons. Set - This button saves a preset scene for a camera that is equipped for presets. To set a preset scene, first call the desired monitor and camera, then pan, tilt, zoom, and focus the scene as wanted.
Preferences This pull-down menu provides operator control options. Preferences can only be set by an operator with Supervisor privilege. The Set Alt Monitors and Arm/Disarm Monitors functions are not operational in Excalibur SE -- only the Operator Preferences option can be selected.

Excalibur SE Icon Controls Selecting an icon from the map display activates the function defined for that icon by the icon setup program, Icons Setup. In many cases, selecting the icon also brings up a dialog box for operator control actions defined for that icon.
VCR, Quad, Phoneline Icons The VCR, Quad, and Phoneline icons operate similar to the fixed camera icons. The dialog box for these icons is the same as a fixed camera dialog box, with no optional pan/tilt, lens, or auxiliary functions, as illustrated below.
