3 1 - Getting Started STEP 4 - PLACE & CONNECT SPEAKERS Speaker Placement Arrange the 6 speakers as shown in your listening ar ea. • Front Speakers (16' cables) - Set the front speakers so that they ar e aligned at ear level and at a horizontal angle of 45 degr ees to the primary listening area.

Connect the power cord to a standar d 120V AC/60Hz electrical outlet. • The red Standby LED will glow on the front panel to indicate that the system is plugged in and in Standby mode. 2. 8 DVD System User’ s Guide BASIC DISC PLA YBACK Follow these steps to playback a DVD, CD, VCD or MP3-CD: 1. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the fr ont panel to open the disc tray . 2. Insert the disc with the label side up. • If your DVD is double-sided, orient the disc with the desir ed label facing up.
9 2 - Basic Operations OPTIONS DURING PLA YBACK While a disc is playing, you can choose from a variety of playback options: 1 Freeze While a disc is playing, press PLA Y/P AUSE to freeze playback. Pr ess PLA Y/P AUSE again to resume playback. 2 Frame Advance Press the STEP button to step for ward one frame at a time.

13 3 - Special Features 3 This chapter shows you how to use special playback and operations featur es of your DHT7100. Each feature is named for the r emote contr ol button that activates it. SPECIAL FEA TURES DISPLA Y Press the DISPLA Y button to view the on-screen display , which provides a snapshot of the currently loaded disc.
14 DVD System User’ s Guide TITLE With DVD loaded 1. Press the TITLE button to display the T itle menu of the currently loaded DVD (not all DVDs have a multiple Titles and/ or Title menus). 2. Use the 0-9 keys or ARROW keys to select the desired title.
15 3 - Special Features SUBTITLE While a DVD is playing, press the SUBTITLE button repeatedly to select among all available subtitle languages on the disc. ANGLE While a DVD is playing, press the ANGLE button to select among all available angles on the disc (not all DVDs contain multiple angles).

17 3 - Special Features DRC (DYNAMIC RANGE COMPRESSION) With DVD in Stop While a DVD is loaded, press DRC to set Dynamic Range Compression to: • DRC ON - Compresses the dynamic audio range of the DVD soundtrack for watching movies late at night or when you don’t want to disturb others.
18 DVD System User’ s Guide SLEEP Y ou can set the DHT7100 to sleep (power off and go into Standby mode) after a predetermined time from 10-150 minutes.
19 3 - Special Features DSP MODE While listening to ster eo soundtracks, you can customize the sound to ap- proximate the sound inside a hall, theater , pavilion, etc.

21 4 - Advanced Setup USING THE TEST TONE GENERA TOR To help you fine tune your speakers levels, a T est T one generator is provided which sends a neutral “white noise” for ~5 seconds to each speaker .
