2 Before you begin — Read these instr uctions completely and carefully . IMPORT ANT - Save these instructions for local inspector’s use. IMPORT ANT - OBSERVE ALL GOVERNING CODES AND ORDINANCES. Note to Installer - Be sure to leave these instr uctions with the Consumer .
3 Design Infor mation 36" Island Vent Hood Model ZV850 Model Available Required Accessor y This vent hood is designed to be used in vented ceiling mounted installations. NOTE: Accessories to meet proper ceiling height are required to complete the installation.

6 Installation Preparation 36" Island Vent Hood Advance Planning 1 Step Note: The cross framing must be spaced 8-3/4” on the side from centerline to centerline in order to accept the hood mounting screws. Plan the location Determine the exact location of the vent hood.
7 Installation Preparation 36" Island Vent Hood Advance Planning (continued) 1 Step Ductwork • Use the shortest and straightest duct route possible. For satisfactor y per for mance, duct r un should not exceed 100 feet equivalent length for any duct configuration.
8 Installation 36" Island Vent Hood Check Installation Hardware 3 Step Check contents of the required accessory, ZX858, ZX859 or ZX8510. Locate the hardware accessory box packed with the hood and check contents.
9 Installation 36" Island Vent Hood • Align the template with the marks on the ceiling and tape in place. – Be sure the template is oriented cor rectly , with the front of the hood. • Use a plumb to check to be sure the mount- ing holes will provide parallel alignment with the countertop below .
10 Installation 36" Island Vent Hood Wiring • Route house wiring through the ceiling hole and pull a length to reach the hood junction box, approximately 6” below the support. • T ape the wire to the front of the frame support to prevent damage during installa- tion and ser vice.
Installation 36" Island Vent Hood Install Decorative Duct Covers Step 8 11 • Pretap or drive decorative screw into the screw holes on the support frame. This will make screw installation easier . • Separate the two decorative duct covers. • Select the inside (top) cover , which has two screw holes in the top.

13 Installation 36" Island Vent Hood Slide Duct Cover Down, Install Side Utility Bars Step 11 • Hold the decorative duct cover and remove the temporar y stop screw . Retur n the screw to the ser vice manual envelope for future use. • Slide the lower duct cover down onto the hood.
14 Installation 36" Island Vent Hood • Remove protective film on filters. • Tip the filter into the lower slots at the rear of the opening. Lift the filter and pull the knob for ward until the filter rests on the slots. • T o remove the filters, grasp the knob, push the filter towards the rear and tilt down- wards.
