CAUTION: The presence o f water in the piping and water heater does not provide sufficient conduction for a ground. Non-metallic piping, dielectric unions, flexible connectors etc. can cause the water heater to be electrically isolated. T o Fill the W ater Heater Make cer tain the dr ain valv e is completely closed.
9 NOTICE: This guide recommends minimum branch circuit sizing and wire size based on National Electric Code. Refer to wiring diagrams in this manual for field wiring connections. Insulation blankets , available to the gener al public, f or external use on electric water heaters ar e not necessary.
10 Installing the water heater . Hot and Cold Pipe Insulation Installation F or increased ener gy efficiency , some water heaters hav e been supplied with two 24” sections of pipe insulation. Please install the insulation, accor ding to the illustr ations above , that best meets your r equir ements .

13 If adjustment is necessary… T urn off the power to the water heater . Remove the jacket access panel(s) and insulation exposing the thermostat(s). The thermostat protectiv e cov er(s) should not be r emoved. Using a small scr ewdriv er , set the thermostat(s) dial pointer(s) to the desir ed tempera ture .
Routine Preventative Maintenance P roperly maintained, your water hea ter will provide years of dependable tr ouble- fr ee ser vice. It is suggested that a r outine prev entiv e maintenance progr am be established and follow ed by the user .
