1 Preface This is the GE FTP-1000 Installation Ma nual for model 600-1020. This document includes an overview of the product and detailed instructions explaining: • how to install the touchpad; and • how to program the touchp ad. There is also informatio n describing how to con tact technical support if you have questions or concerns .
F TP-1000 Installati on Manual 2 Product overview The FTP-1000 lets you contro l the operation of compatib le security systems (see T able 4 on page 10). The large display provides easy to read messages to in dicate the current status of the system. The touchpad includes police, fire, and auxiliary pa nic buttons that can be activated anytime.
3 Installation Use the following instructions to install and wire your to uchpad. Guidelines • Mount the touchpad i n an environmentally contro lled area (32 to 120°F or 0 to 49°C). • When mounting the touchpad, a llow at least 3 inches below it for the swing-down cover .

Be sure to leave a 3-inch clearance below for the touchpad door to open. F i gure 2. Moun ting hole locations 3. Insert anchors into the wall at the ma rked locations where studs are not present.
5 F igure 3. Touchpad wiring connections Attaching the touchpad to the mounting plate Align the tabs at the top of the mo unting plate with the slots on the touchpad and swing the touchpad bottom toward the mounting plate. Gently tighten the screw into the bottom of the touchpad.
F TP-1000 Installati on Manual 6 Te s t i n g Use the following procedures to test the touchp ad for display function, butto n function, and system op eration. Test touchpad display function Press and hold the 4 , 5 , and 6 buttons together fo r about three seconds, then release them.
7 Adjusting display brightness Y ou can adjust the backgroun d lighting (provided b y yellow LEDs) of each touchpad i ndividually to help compensate for lighting conditions at th e touchpad location. The brightness adjustment lightens or darkens the display background and button lighting.
F TP-1000 Installati on Manual 8 Changing chime and trouble beep tones The frequency (pitch) of chime and trou ble beep tone s from each touchpad ca n be adjusted to a more desirable or distinct tone, and to compensate for hearing impaired persons.
9 T roubleshooting The following describes what to do if the touchpad does not operate correctly . • The touchpad do esn’ t power up (no display and no bee ps when buttons are pr ess ed). 1. Check for correct wiring connections at touchp ad and panel terminals.
