Concord 4 Series Security Systems 1 Getting to Know Y our Security System Y our security system consists of different components. Each co mponent plays a special role in system operation (Figure 1). Figure 1. Security System Co mponents Panel The panel is the heart of your system.

T ouchpads Alphanumeric and Fixed Display T ouchpads Alphanumeric touchpads are mounted on a wall and provide system information by LEDs and/or displaying text messages.
Concord 4 Series Security Systems 3 Beeps and LEDs— How Y our System T alks to Y ou T ouchpads and in terior sirens produce a variety of operating beeps to inform you of different sys- tem states and operations. Key Beeps A Key beep is the tone you hear when you press a button on an alphanumeric, fix ed display , or handheld wireless touchpad.

Concord 4 Series Security Systems 5 If the system goes into a fire alarm automatically: 1. Immediately exit the buil ding. 2. Notify the fire department from a safe location (if system is not monito red). If you discover a fire emergen cy before the system goes into alarm automatically : 1.
Concord 4 Series Security Sys tems 6 • Check the location of smoke detectors. Smoke detectors located too clo se to bathrooms and kitchens can trip from steam or smoke from cooking. • T ake note of system beeps, voice announcements, and indicat or lights which indicate the current system status.
Concord 4 Series Security Systems 7 Level 2—ST A Y Use this level to arm perimet er doors and windows only . Interior d evices such as motion sensors remain off so you can stay inside th e premises without setting off an alarm. If you wish, you can exit through a desig nated delay door after arming to Level 2—ST A Y .
Concord 4 Series Security Sys tems 8 Keychain T ouchpad Arming Y our installer can set up your keychain touchpad to arm the system in one of two ways: • Press the Lock but ton to arm the system directly to Level 3—A W A Y with no Ex it Delay . Using this method, you woul d not be able to arm to Level 2—ST A Y .
Concord 4 Series Security Systems 9 Auto ST A Y Arming Feature The Auto ST A Y Arm ing feature helps cut down on false alarms in the event that you arm the system to 3—A W A Y , but fail to leave during the Exit Delay time.
Concord 4 Series Security Sys tems 10 3. At any touchpad, press # + CODE ( # is labeled Bypass ) 4. T ouchpads display , “BYP ASS SENSOR _ _,” or “ENTER SNSR _ _.” Enter the desired sen- sor number . 5. T ouchpads display , “BYP ASSED ZONES 01,” or “SENSOR 01 BYP ASSED,” for example.

Concord 4 Series Security Sys tems 12 ately . A panic alarm can be activat ed in any arm ing level. Each type of panic alarm sounds and reacts dif ferently when activated. Fire Panic Alarm The Fire panic alarm sounds from all interior and exteri or sirens.
Concord 4 Series Security Systems 13 Even though reaching the time-out stops the sire ns, th e alarm will still be in progress until th e system is manually disarmed. Access Codes The system requires a valid access code before it will process most commands.
Concord 4 Series Security Sys tems 14 If more than 40 keys are pressed when the syst em asks for a code, and t hose keystrokes are not part of a valid access code, a sire n will sound. T alk to your in staller or see Appendix A “T ouch- pad Information” on page 44 to see if th is feat ure is enabled.

Concord 4 Series Security Systems 21 Example 1 of One Day Rollover At home you’d like the Latchkey Opening featu re to be ef fective from 10 p.m. on Tu esday until 5 a.m. on W ednesday (see Figure 8 Example 1). By taking advantage of One Day Rollover, one time schedule can cover both days.

For Latchkey Closin g Reports, the page reports the arming level as 222 (2—ST A Y) or 333 (3— A W A Y), and the user that armed to that level.

What Will the Pager Report? Exception Opening Reports report the arming level as 1 11 (1—OFF) a nd the user that disarmed the system.

Press 1 + CODE , again to reset the smoke alarm. Smoke and fire panic alarms can not be cancelled and are always reported to the cen tral station.
