2 Congratulations on your purchase of the 20309 Universal Remote Control. The 20309 is one of the most easy to use remote contr ols available today. With the 20309, juggling multiple remote controls is a thing of the past! Your 20309 contr ols up to six devices, including the most popular brands of T V , VCR, DVD, SA T, CBL, and audio equipment .
3 Battery Installation 1. On the back of the remote, push down on the tab and lift the cover off. 2. Match the batteries to the + and - marks inside the battery case, then insert 2 AAA Alkaline batteries. 3. Press the battery cover back into place. Battery Saver Your r emote automatically turns off if the buttons are depressed more than 30 seconds.
4 SETUP for setup. RECORD, PLA Y, ST OP , REW, FF , PAUSE VCR control buttons operate your V CR even when the remote is set to operate the TV. Also operates D VD Scan -/+. Note the VCR keys also control DVD when in DVD Mode. INPUT for some TVs, press repeatedly to select from available viewing sources (antenna, cable box, VCR, etc.
5 VOLUME UP/DOWN changes the volume level of the product , normally the TV. CC (SUBTITLE) TV Closed Caption (if your TV has this feature) or DVD Subtitle toggle. NUMBERS enter numbers for direct channel selection. Some products require ENTER to be pressed after channel selection.
6 This remote has several dedicated buttons used for DVD f unctions. The descriptions may vary from your original r emote descriptions. SCAN+ and SCAN- buttons control the speed of Fast Forward and Reverse Playback respectively. SKIP (Channel Up & Down) buttons respectively locate the succeed- ing or preceding Chapters or Tracks on a disc.
7 GUIDE/PROG button displays on-screen Satellite Channel Guide. CHANNEL+ and CHANNEL- buttons perform the “ Page+ ” and “ Page- ” function for on-screen Guide Menus used by some Satellite systems. INFO/DISPLAY button brings up Satellite Display scr een for current Channel and system information.
8 1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button. 2. Press and release the desir ed mode button ( T V , VCR , etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit . 3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables (on separate sheet).
9 If your device does not respond after y ou have tried all the codes for your brand, or if your brand is not listed, try searching for y our code by following these steps. 1. Manually turn on the device ( T V , VCR , etc.) to be controlled. 2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
10 Code Identification The Code Identification Feature allows you to identif y the 4 digit library code stored under your device key. For example, if y ou want to find out what 4 digit code is stored under your TV device key, follow the six steps below: 1.

12 Volume/Mute Control and Punch-Through This remote lets you select which device Mode contr ols your Volume/Mute buttons. The remote is initially set for all device Modes to use their own Volume/Mute control if pr esent .
13 Using Y our Remot e, cont . Setting any Mode to use its own Volume/Mute Control This routine can set any Mode to use only its own Volume/Mute control. Note - If your chosen Mode has no V olume/Mute functions of its own then the Volume/Mute buttons will do nothing.
14 Remote does not operate your product . • Press the mode button of the product you want to contr ol. • Program the remote with a new code. • Install new batteries. (You might have to repr ogram your remote after installing new batteries.) • Remote may not be compatible with your product .
