Many of the keys have been assigned alternat e functions, including shortcut keys for Wi ndo ws and function keys for specific system operations.

Some keys per form specific actions when pressed alone and other actions when pressed in combination with another key . 31 Using the k eyboard www .gate way .com Pause the te xt scrolling in a DOS screen. Press t his key combina tion again to cont inue scrolling. The Scroll Lock status indicato r appears when this fun ction is tu rned on. (This fu nction is only a v aila ble in some progra ms.

The screen provides a hard, smooth writing surface, minimizes gla re, and increases readability .

41 Using the pen www .gate way .com Using the pen Y our convertible tablet PC’ s pen is the only device that can write, tap, and input directly on your convertible tablet PC’ s display . The pen c an do everything a mouse does. Just think “tap” instead of “cli ck”.

The desktop is like the top of a real desk. Think of the desktop as your personalized wo rk space where you open programs and per form other tasks.
