www.gatewa y.com 15 Setting up your co mputer desk and chair When you are setting up your computer desk and chair , make sure that the desk is the appropriate hei ght and the chair helps you maintain good posture. • Select a flat surface for your computer desk.

The battery(ies) were shipped to you partially charged. You should use the A C adapter right away to fully charge the battery (ies).

Insert the card into the smart card reader , then enter a personal identifica tion number (PIN) to log onto the notebook or the ne twork.
CHAPTER 3 : Setting Up and Getting Started 36 Using the EZ Pad touchpad The EZ Pad™ c onsists of a touchpad, two butto ns, and a scroll zone. When you move your finger on the touchpad, the poin ter (arrow) on the screen moves in the same direction. You can use the scroll zone to scroll through documents.
www.gatewa y.com 37 Y ou can use the EZ Pad left and right buttons below the touchpad to select obje cts. Tip Y ou can at tach a mouse to the notebook or optional port replicator u sing a USB port. Y ou do not need to shut down the notebook to connect a USB mouse.

After the tray opens sl ightly , pull the disc tray completely ope n. 2 Place the disc in the tray with the label facing up, then press down carefully on the disc until it snaps into place.

You can also use the memory card reader to transfer data betw een your notebook and a device that uses memory cards, such as a PDA, MP3 player , or cellular telephone.

See “Changing batteries” on page 59 fo r more information about using a n additional battery .
