p.11 Using Y our Drive on Mac Easy Installation for Mac G-RAID attaches to your c omputer via a high speed USB 3.0 or one of two F ireW ire 800 por ts. F ireW ire 400 connectivit y is handled by a 9 to 6 pin cable (included). Choose the connection appropriate f or your sy stem and connect G-RAID with the matching supplied cable .

T o preven t failures and/or data loss , it is important to follow the steps belo w when disconnecting or ‘ unmounting ’ the drive from your comput er .

p.14 Maintenanc e for Y our Drive Initialize Drive f or M ac G-RAID was factor y-formatted f or use or ‘ initialized’ for Mac OS. Y ou can reinitialize if you would like t o quickly erase the contents of the drive . Here are the steps. 1. F irst, open the Disk Utility program.

Choose the F or mat option that you pr efer . • Mac OS Extended (Journaled): Use this format if you intend t o use the drive f or Time Machine or to create a separ ate bootable installation of OS. • Mac OS Extended: Use this f ormat for best performance and media storage.

Select the default icon in the Get I nfo window . (below left) 6. P ress Command+V to paste the custom G-RAID ic on into the Get Info window .

A simple initializa tion will prepare y our dr ive for use with W indows Vista and Windo ws 7 systems . F or helpful information on conguring and using your drive with Windo ws, please visit g-technology .
p.25 Using Y our Drive on W indows Cross Pla tform U se Y ou can set up G-RAID for use on both Window s and Mac system by f ormatting the drive as ‘F A T32’ . T o do this, use the Disk Utility application and format the drive to MS-DOS (F A T ), also k nown as F A T32.
