When recor ding, y ou will need to select a recor ding f ormat betw een Video mode and VR mode depend- ing on the disc format. The disc format for D VD-R is alwa ys “Video format, ” so a recording format will be “Video mode”.

Settings for the r ecor ding format to a blank disc 30 F ormatting a disc Recording When inserting a blank disc , the unit starts to initialize the blank disc. After that, you can r ecor d to the disc with the recor ding format selected in SETUP menu.

Connect the external source pr operly to the unit by using input jacks either LINE 2 (Front) or LINE 1 (Rear). When you want to r ecor d to a tape, use either D VD/VCR VIDEO IN jack (Rear) or VIDEO input jack (Front). S-VIDEO input is useful only in D VD mode.
