I f the A uto Insert N otification function is active, the indicator will flash periodically when your system is checking the optical dri ve.

15 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook FUNCTION KEYS Y our LifeBook notebook has 12 function k eys, F1 through F12. The functions assigned t o these keys diff er for each application. Y ou should refer t o your software documentation to find out ho w these keys are used.

It is used to con trol the moveme nt of the pointer to select it ems on your displa y panel. The T ouchpad is composed of a c ursor control, a left and right button, and a scrolling button.
17 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook DRAGGING Dragging means pressing and holding the left button, while moving the cursor . T o drag, move the cursor t o the item y ou wish to move. Pr ess and hold the left button while moving the it em to its new location and the n release it.

35 User -Installable Features Lithium ion Battery Y our LifeBook notebook has a Lithium io n batter y that pro vides power for operating your notebook when no external po wer sourc e is available. The batt ery is dur able and long lasting , but should not be expos ed to extreme temperatures, high voltages, chemic als or other hazards.
36 LifeBook S2000 Notebook Dead Battery Suspend mode sho ws on the Status indi- cator just lik e the normal Suspend mode. Once your notebook goes into Dead Battery Suspend mode you will be unable t o resume operation until y ou pr ovide a source of power either fr om an adapter , or a charged battery .

42 LifeBook S2000 Notebook SMART CARD READER An embedded Smart Card Reader is pro vided on your notebook. Smart Cards are the same size and shape as credit cards, but they contain an int egrated micropro- cessor chip .
43 User -Installable Features Memory Stick/Secure Digital/xD Card Slot Y our LifeBook notebook su pports the follo wing memory cards, on which y ou can store and transfer data to and from a variet y of digital devices. These cards use flash memor y architecture, which means they don ’t need a pow er sourc e to reta in data.
