2 LifeBook S Series Notebook S Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operating en vironment for y our notebook. Y our BIOS is set at the fa ctory for normal operating c onditions, there- fore there should be no need to set or change the BIOS en vironment to operate y our notebook.

5 System Date: –— –— Sets and displays the current date. Da te is in a month/day/ year numeric format with 2 digits each for month and day and 4 digits for year . (MM/DD/ YYYY) for example: 03/20/ 2006. Y ou may change each se gment of the date sepa- rately .

If y ou wish to exit from the setup utility , pr ess the [Esc] k ey or use the cursor keys to go to the Exit menu or to mov e to another menu.
9 ADV ANCED MENU – SETTING DEVICE FEA TURE CONTROLS The Ad vanced M enu allows yo u to: ■ Set the I/O addresses for the infrar ed ports. ■ Set the features of the keyboard/mouse. ■ Select between the display panel and/or an e xternal display or v ideo projector .
10 LifeBook S Series Notebook Internal Device Configurations When selected, opens the Internal D evice Configuration submenu, which allows enabling or disabling the IDE LAN, and modem controllers. CPU Features When selected, opens the C PU Features submenu, wh ich allows the user to enable or disable the AMD Virtualization(TM) features.
11 Serial/Parallel Port Configu ration Submenu of the Advanced Menu The Serial/P arallel Po rt Configuration submenu pro vides the ability to set the I/O addresses and inter- rupt levels for the infr ared ports of your system.

27 Exiting from Boot Menu W hen you ha ve finished setting the boot parameters with the Boot menu, y ou can either exit from the setup utility or move to ano ther menu. If you w ish to exit from th e set up ut il it y press the [Esc] key to go to the Exit menu.
28 LifeBook S Series Notebook INFO MENU – DISPL A YS BA SIC SYSTEM INFORMA TION The Info menu is a display only scr eens that provides the configuration i nformation for your notebook. The following table shows the names of the menu fields for the Info men u and the information displayed in those fields.

30 LifeBook S Series Notebook Discard Changes Selecting Di scard Changes will load the previou s values in BIOS memory for all me nu fields. Th e message Load previous configuration now? [Yes] [No] will be displayed. When confirmed th e utility will re turn to the Exit menu.
