2 LifeBook N Series Notebook BIOS N Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup U tility is a program that sets up the operating en vironment for y our notebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factory for nor mal operating conditions, therefor e there is no need to set or change the BIOS environment to op erate your noteboo k.

4 LifeBook N Series Notebook BIOS INFORMATION MENU - DISPLAYS BASIC SYSTEM INFORMATION The Information menu is a displa y-only screen that pro vides the configuration information for your note- book. The following table shows the names of the menu fields for the Information menu and the inform ation display ed in those fields.
5 MAIN MENU – SETTING STAN DARD SYSTEM PARAMETERS The Main M enu allows you to set or view the current system parameters. (See N avigating Through The Setup Utility on pa ge 2 for more informat ion.
6 LifeBook N Series Notebook BIOS Exiting from Main Menu W hen you ha ve finished setting the parameters on this menu, y ou can either exit from the setup utility , or mov e to another menu. If y ou wish to exit from the setup utility , pr ess the [Esc] key or use the cursor keys to go to the Exit menu.
7 ADVANCED MENU – SETTING DEVICE FEATURE CONTROLS The Ad vanced M enu allows y ou to: ■ Set the keyboard N umlock featur e. ■ Select between the display panel and an e xternal CR T display or video projector . ■ Enable or disable compensation for your display .

15 SECURITY MENU – SETTING THE SECURITY FEATURES The Security menu allows y ou to set up the data security features of y our notebook to fit your operating needs and to v iew t he cur rent secur it y configur ation. (See Na v igating Through The Setu p Utility on page 2 for more information.

19 BOOT MENU – SELECTING TH E OPERATING SYSTEM SOURCE The Boot M enu is used t o select the order in which the BIOS searches sources for the operating system.

21 Boot Device Priority Submenu of the Boot Menu The Boot Dev ice Priority Submenu is for setting the or der of checking of sources for the operating system.
