1-1 Chapter 1 Getting Star ted The Stylistic 1200™ pen tablet is a high-performance pen -based tablet computer that supports Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, and Windows NT. This chapter gives an overview of the Stylistic 1200 pen tablet features.

2-1 Chapter 2 Using the Sty listic 12 00 P en T ablet This chapter covers the fundamental concepts, basic system operation and use, and system function s that you need to be familiar wit h to use the Stylistic 1200 pen tablet.
2-2 Using th e Styli stic 120 0 Pen Ta blet When you use the Stylistic 1200 pen tablet, you ca n change the c urrent system state in a number of ways, depen ding on what state the system is in. To determ ine the current system state, observe the Pow er icon in the Stat us display.
Starting the Syste m 2-3 Star ting the System 2 Follow the proc edu re below to start the Styli stic 1200 pen tablet. Befo re yo u begi n, confirm that th e system is in the Fu lly Off state.

Using the Pe n 2-5 Note: Y ou may need to tap the p en tip against the scree n initially to turn on the pen. The pen turn s off automat ically t o cons erv e the pe n batt er y if it is not used for a p eriod of approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Here are some hints that m ay help you use the pen more ef fectively.
2-6 Using th e Styli stic 120 0 Pen Ta blet Shutting Down the System 2 Follow these steps to shut dow n and turn off yo ur system: 1. If system operation is suspended, r esume system operation . See “Resuming System Operation” later in this chapter for details.
Suspendi ng Sys tem Opera tion 2-7 The Power icon either flashes or is not displayed when system operation is suspended, depending on how your system is config ured.
2-8 Using th e Styli stic 120 0 Pen Ta blet • The system uses a small amount o f battery power when in Suspend-to-R AM mode. Eventually , the ba ttery will become fully discharged. If you will not be using the system for an extended period of time, shut down the sy stem and turn of f the Power switch rathe r than using Suspend-to-RAM mode.
Chargi ng the Batte ry Pac k 2-9 Note that power to severa l system components must be r estor ed befor e system operation resumes; allow sufficient time for system operation to resume before attempting to use the system.

Removing and Insta lling the Battery Pack 2-11 Note: When installed in the p en tablet , the b attery pack p rovides p ower to som e sys tem compone nts— even when the syst em is in t he Fully O ff state. When th e batt ery pack is removed, power is su ppli ed to thes e component s by a “br idge” battery b uilt into the pen tablet.
2-1 2 Using th e Styli stic 120 0 Pen Ta blet Conser ving Battery P ow er 2 You can extend the cha rge life of your battery pack by co nserving battery power. A fully charged battery pack can run the system under normal use in most applications for approximately 3 to 4 hours.
3-1 Chapter 3 Care and Maintenance This chapter gives you pointers on ho w to care for and m aintain your Stylistic 1200 pen tablet. Prot ecting the Di spla y Screen 3 To protect the display screen, use a screen protector with the Stylistic 1200 pen tablet.
3-2 Care a nd Mai ntenance Prot ecting the St ylist ic 1200 P en T ab l et in Harsh E n viron ments 3 The Stylistic 1200 pen tablet is designed for use in environments where there is no direct exposure to rain, mis ts, sprays, dirt, or other abra si ve particles.
Replacin g the Pe n Tip 3-3 Repla cin g the P en Tip 3 The pen t ip is made of a soft plastic material. With use, the pen tip may become worn or may pick up particles of dust or dirt that can scratch the display screen. Also, a damaged or warped pen tip may not move fre ely, causing unpredictable results when using the pen.
3-4 Care a nd Mai ntenance Repla cing th e P e n Batter y 3 The pen battery has a typical life of about 1 year under n ormal use. More freq uent use will shorten battery life.
Calibratin g the Pe n 3-5 Calibr a ting the P en 3 You calibrate the pen to adjust the cursor position on the screen re lative to the position of the pen. If the cursor is not displayed under the pen tip when you use the pen, you should calibra te the pen.
3-6 Care a nd Mai ntenance 4. In the dia log box, tap yo ur response. (If you don’t ta p any of the butt ons w ithin 20 seconds, your new calibration settings ar e discar ded and pr evious calibra tion settings are used.) • If you ar e satisfied that you tapped the cr o ss-hairs accurately , tap OK.
