2 -EN WARNING The e xclamation point within an equilateral triangle and "W ARNING" are intended to aler t the user to the presence of impor tant operating instructions. F ailure to heed the instructions will result in se vere injury or death.
3 -EN T ape Head Cleaning Periodic cleaning (approximately every 20 hours of use) of the tape head with a wet type head-cleaning cassette tape (available at audio stores) is necessary for best performance. Fuse Replacement When replacing the fuse(s), the replacement must be of the same amperage as shown on the fuse holder .
4 -EN Basic Operation Detaching the Fr ont P anel 1 Press the PO WER button to turn off the pow er . 2 Press the (Release) button until the front panel pops out. 3 Grasp the left side of the front panel and pull it out. NO TES • The fr ont panel may become hot (especially the connector terminals).
5 -EN 2 Press and hold the A.S.U . (Automatic Setup) button f or at least 3 seconds to activ ate the A.S.U . mode. "ASU" blinks in the displa y . The unit automatically performs the f ollowing operations. 1. Activates the A uto Memor y mode.
6 -EN 4 Press the g DN or f UP b utton to automatically seek f or a station downward or upward respectiv ely . The unit will stop on the ne xt station it finds. Press the same button again to seek the ne xt station. Manual Storing of Station Presets 1 Select the radio band and tune in a desired radio station you wish to store in the preset memory .
7 -EN A utomatic Memory of Station Presets 1 Press the SOURCE button until the radio frequency appears in the display . 2 Press the BAND button repeatedly until the desired radio band is displa yed. Each press changes the radio bands as f ollows: → F1 → F2 → AM 3 Press and hold the A.
8 -EN Inser ting/Ejecting Cassette 1 Inser t a cassette tape into the slot with the open side f acing right. When the cassette is loaded, the pla yer automatically star ts tape pla yback and indicates "T APE" in the display . 2 Press the Eject ( c ) b utton when you want to eject the cassette tape.
9 -EN F ast Forward and Re wind 1 Press the g DN or f UP b utton dur ing tape play to f ast rewind or f orward the tape respectively . The tape side indicator or blinks indicating the direction of the tape.
10 -EN Contr olling CD Changer (Optional) The CD controls on the TDM-7580E will function only when a CD Changer (M-Bus) is connected. 1 Press the SOURCE b utton to activate the CD Changer . The displa y shows the disc number and tr ack number . NOTE T o start play or pause playback, press the : / J button.
11 -EN M.I.X. (Random) Play 1 Press and hold the M.I.X. button in CD pla y for at least 2 seconds to tur n on the M.I.X. mode. When this mode is turned on, the tracks on the currently pla ying disc will be play ed back in a random sequence. T o cancel the M.
12 -EN Information CD CD Changer not functioning. • Out of operating temperature range +50˚C (+120˚F) for CD. - Allow the vehicle's interior (or trunk) temperature to cool. CD playbac k sound is wavering. • Moisture condensation in the CD Module.
13 -EN Indication for CD Changer • Protective circuit is activated due to high temperature. - The indicator will disappear when the temperature returns to within operation range. • Malfunction in the CD Changer . - Consult your Alpine dealer . Press the magazine eject button and pull out the magazine.
14 -EN Installation and Connections Before installing or connecting the unit, please read the f ollowing and pages 2 and 3 of this manual thor oughly f or proper use. W arning USE ONL Y IN CARS WITH A 12 VOL T NEGA TIVE GROUND. (Check with your dealer if you are not sure.
15 -EN 3 Slide the TDM-7580E into the dashboard. When the unit is in place, make sure the locking pins are fully seated in the down position. This can be done by pressing firmly in on the unit while pushing the locking pin down with a small screwdriver.

17 -EN 1 Antenna Receptacle 2 Power Antenna Lead (Blue) Connect this lead to the +B terminal of your power antenna, if applicab le. NOTE This lead should be used only for contr olling the vehicle's power antenna. Do not use this lead to turn on an amplifier or a signal pr ocessor , etc.
