5 Installation (SPX-177A) W oofer: Surface mount W oofer: Factory/stealth Notes: l Attach gasket tape as shown. l If spacer ring is used with grille, snap-fit tabs on spacer ring must be removed for proper fit. st4.2x25mm Notes: l Attach gasket tape as shown.
6 Installation (SPX-177A) W oofer: Factory/OEM custom fit Notes: l Attach gasket tape as shown. l Use appropriate adapter pattern for OEM fit, then break away any unused tabs.

Then rotate until achieving a positive lock using an appropriate tool (screwdriver , etc.). l Mount complete swivel-surface cup and fix swivel spacer to base.

Then rotate until achieving a positive lock using an appropriate tool (screwdriver , etc.). l Insert complete swivel-flush cup with mounting clips first through opening.
10 Installation T weeter: Fixed-flush mount Fig. 1 Fig. 2 Fig. 3 Notes: l Insert fixed-flush cup with mounting clips first through opening. (Fig. 1) l Press mounting clips at center and secure with screw . (Fig. 2) l Make connections, then insert and lock tweeter into cup.
11 Installation T weeter: Surface-angle mount Notes: l Remove network cover , and mount as shown l Connect wires to terminal blocks accordingly . (see System Connection Diagrams section) l Make appropriate jumper settings using jumper puller tool (see Crossover Network Settings section) l Re-secure network cover .
12 System Connections Single Input Bi-wire Input Note: Signal link jumpers highlighted in black must be inserted for proper function of single input configuration. Wiring for connection of crossover network to amplifier is not included. Caution: These jumpers must be removed when using b-wire input.
13 Crossover Network Settings It is common knowledge that the automotive environment poses numerous acoustic challenges to achieving high-fidelity sound. Fortunately , many of these problems can be overcome with proper speaker placement, equalization, digital time correction, or other techniques.
14 Crossover Network Settings System T ype 1 (default) Speaker Placement Description: In this system type, woofer and tweeter are mounted in close proximity to each other , and are mounted in essentially the same plane.
15 Crossover Network Settings System T ype 1 Filter Description: In this setting, the woof er and tweeter are at appro ximately equal distance from the listener . Using the kic k-panel for placement is only one of man y locations av ailable to mount both drivers together .
16 Crossover Network Settings System T ype 2 Speaker Placement Description: In this system type, woofer and tweeter are mounted different locations and at dif ferent distances from the listener . Also of significance, is the fact that the tweeter is the nearest driver .
17 Crossover Network Settings System T ype 2 Filter Description: In this system type, the woofer is in a dif ferent plane from the tweeter , making it necessary to use the phase correction sections of the network to compensate for the different relative positions.
