6 About DVDs Music CDs and D VDs have g roov es (tracks) in which the digital data is recorded. The data is represented as microscopic pits recorded into the track – these pits are read b y a laser beam to play the disc. On D VDs, the density of the tracks and pits is twice that of CDs , so D VDs can contain more data in less space.

8 DV D / AUDIO When using remote control Replacing the batteries Opening the battery cover Push on the cover and slide it as indicated by the arrows then the co ver will be removed. Closing the cover Push the cov er in the arrow direction until a click is heard.

10 Stopping playback Press the stop button during playbac k to stop playback. That position is stored in the memory . DVD CD Video CD Press “ L ” during playback.
11 Press “NTSC/P AL” for at least 5 seconds. Switching between NTSC and P AL configuration Switch the video output configuration to NTSC or P AL according to the type of tele vision and the disc recording method. Notes: • P AL is the standard and there is no need to change the setting.

13 DVD menu Use the “Jo ystick” or the number ke ys (“0” to “9” and “+10”) to select the desired item, then press “ENT” or “ : ”. Note: For some discs it is not possib le to select items from the menu screen using the number ke ys (“0” to “9” and ”+10”).
14 Finding the begin- nings of chapters or tracks DVD CD Video CD During playback, press“ ” or “ ”. The chapter/track s witches each time the button is pressed, and playbac k of the selected chapter/track star ts. : Press this to start playback from the beginning of the follo wing chapter or track.
15 Playing still frames (pausing) Frame-by-frame playback Slow motion playback Supplementary explanation “Chapters” are divisions of movies or musical selections on D VDs. “T racks” are divisions of movies or musical selections on video and music CDs.
16 Searching by title number Use this function to easily find positions on the D VD using the D VD’ s title menu. Searching by title number During playback, press “GO TO”.

18 Searching by elapsed time Searching by elapsed time Use this function to search by specifying the elapsed time. DVD CD Video CD During playback, press “GO TO”. The mode switches each time the b utton is pressed. Select “TIME”. Input the elapsed time from which you want to start playback using the number keys (“0” to “9”).
19 Chapter/track/title repeat playback Switching the audio language Press “ENT”. Pla yback starts from the specified elapsed time. Chapter/track/ title repeat playback Use this function to pla y the disc’ s titles, chapters or tracks repeatedly .
20 Switching the angle Switching the subtitles (subtitle language) Switching the angle With D VDs on which images photo- graphed from multiple angles are recorded, the angle can be s witched during playbac k. DVD During playback, press “ANGLE” for at least 2 seconds.
21 Displaying the subtitles Displaying the disc status Displaying the subtitles With D VDs on which subtitles are recorded, you can select whether to displa y the subtitles or not during playbac k. During playback, press “– ON/OFF” for at least 2 seconds.
22 Displaying the disc status Displaying the disc status Use the procedure described below to display the status (track n umber , etc.) of the currently playing video CD or music CD on the screen. During playback, press “DISP .”. The playbac k status is display ed.
23 V ideo output ON/OFF V ideo output ON/OFF (Only when CV A-1005R/IV A-M700R/ IV A-C800R is connected) When this unit is used with the CV A- 1005R/IV A-M700R/IV A-C800R + the TME-M750 (Extra Monitor f or Rear Seat), the D VD video can be viewed independ- ently of what’ s being viewed on the CV A- 1005R/IV A-M700R/IV A-C800R.
24 SET UP Changing the default settings (setup) The factory default settings can be changed to suit your personal prefer- ences and usage. Changing the default settings (setup) Changing the language settings In the stop mode, press “SET” for at least 2 seconds.

30 SET UP The digital signals recorded on the D VD disc with 96 kHz/24bit, 48 kHz/24bit, 48 kHz/20bit sampling are conv er ted into digital signals with 48 kHz/16bits sampling for output from the optical cab le. Set to ON at time of shipment from factory .
