2 Install the telephone base and char ger as shown below. If you subscribe to high-speed Internet servic e (DSL - digital subscriber line) through your telephone line, you must inst all a DSL filter between the telephone line cor d and the telephone wall jack.

4 Bat tery inst allation and char ging Batt ery charging Once you have inst alled the battery , the screen indicates the battery st atus (see the table below). If necessary , place the handset in the telephone base or char ger to charge the battery . For best performanc e, keep the handset in the telephone base or char ger when not in use.

6 Quick r ef er ence guide Using menus Press MENU/ SELECT t o enter the main menu. Press DIR or CID to scroll through menu items. Press MENU /SELECT t o select or modify an item. Press OFF/ CLEAR to cancel an operation, back up t o the previous menu, or exit the menu displa y.

8 The announcement is the greeting call ers hear when calls are answered by the answering system. The telephone has a def ault announcement, “ Hello. Please leave a message after the t one. ” Y ou can use this announcement, or recor d your own announcement.
