Make sur e that y our seat bel t is secur ely st ored aw ay and is not outside your v ehicle when cl osing the door .
Pr egnant women shoul d alwa ys w ear their sea t belt. T he lap bel t portion of a combina tion lap and shoul der sea t belt should be positione d lo w across the hips belo w the belly and w orn as tight a s comf ort will allo w . The shoul der belt should be positione d to cross the middl e of the shoulder and the c entre of the chest.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION W ARNINGS Extr eme Hazard! Do not use a re arward f acing child r estraint on a sea t prote cted b y an airbag in front of it! Do not modify the front of y our vehicl e in any wa y . This c ould adver sely a ffec t deplo yment of the airbags.
The airba g will deplo y during significant frontal c ollisions or collisions tha t are up to 30 degr ees from the l eft or the right. T he airbag will infl at e within a few thousandths of a second and de fla te on cont act with the occupant, thus cushioning forw ard body mov ement.

GENERAL INF ORMA TION Condensa tion in L amp Assemblies Ext erior lamps ha ve vents t o acc ommodat e normal changes in air pressur e. Condensa tion can be a na tural by-pr oduct of this design. When moist air ent ers the lamp a ssembly thr ough the vents, there is a possibility tha t condensa tion can occur when the temper atur e is cold .

Push the l ever f orward a gain or pull the le ver to ward y ou to s witch the main beams off. Headlamp Flasher Pull the l ever t owar d you slightl y and rel ea se it to fla sh the headl amps.
The he adlamps will swit ch on and off automa ticall y in lo w light situations or during inclement w ea ther . The he adlamps will r emain on for a period of time aft er you swit ch the ignition off. Y ou can adjust the time dela y using the informa tion displa y control s.
Pr ess the control t o switch the f og lamps on or off. Y ou can switch the f og lamps on when the lighting contr ol is in any position ex cept off. REAR FOG LAMPS W ARNINGS Only us e the rear f og lamps when visibility is re stricted t o less than 164 fe et (50 metres).

Reading Lamps If you s witch the ignition off, the reading lamps will g o off automa ticall y aft er some time to pr event y our vehicl e batt ery from discharging.
POWER WINDO W S W ARNINGS Do not le ave chil dren una ttende d in your v ehicle and do not l et them pla y with the pow er windows. They ma y seriousl y injure themselv es. When cl osing the power windo ws, you shoul d verify they ar e free of obstructions and mak e sure that childr en and pets are not in the pr oximity of the window openings.

At normal oper ating t empera ture, the needl e will remain in the centr e section. Note: Do not restart the engine until the cause o f overhe ating ha s been resol ved. If the needl e enters the r ed section, the engine is ov erheating. Stop the engine , swit ch the ignition off and determine the cause onc e the engine has c ooled do wn.

MANUAL CLIMA TE C ONTROL Fan speed c ontrol: Contr ols the vol ume of air circula ted in y our vehicl e. A djust to sel ect the desir ed fan spee d or switch off . If you swit ch the fan off , the windscreen ma y fog up . A Recirc ulated air: P ress the butt on to swit ch betwe en outside air and recir cula ted air .
Sel ect t o distribute air through the windscreen air v ents. Y ou can also us e this setting to de fog and cle ar the windscreen of a thin c overing of ice.
Side Windo w Defogging in C old W eather • Adjust the air dis tribution control t o the instrument panel and foot well air vent s positions. • Pr ess the A/C butt on. • Adjust the t empera ture c ontrol to the desired s etting. • Adjust the f an speed t o the highest setting.
SITTING IN THE C ORRECT POSITION W ARNINGS Do not recline the se atback t oo far as this c an cause the oc cupant to slide under the sea t belt, r esulting in serious injury in the ev ent of a collision.
Adjus ting the Head Restr aint W ARNING Raise the r ear head r estraint when the re ar seat is oc cupied by a passeng er or a child r estraint. Adjust the he ad restr aint so that the t op of it is le vel with the top of y our head . Remo ving the Head Res traint Pr ess the locking butt ons and remo ve the head r estraint.
W ARNINGS The driv er's sea t has remo vabl e stop bolt s on the track t o enable ac cess to the v ehicle ba ttery . See Changing the 12V Batt ery (page 133).
Recline A djustment Adjus ting the Armrest POWER SEA T S W ARNINGS Do not adjust the driver's s eat or sea tback when your v ehicle is moving. Do not plac e car go or any object s behind the sea tback bef ore returning it to the original position.
Po wer Lumbar REAR SEA TS W ARNINGS Do not use the bench sea ts as a be d when your v ehicle is mo ving. Make sur e that the se ats and the sea tbacks ar e secure and full y la tched in their c at ches. When f olding the sea tback s up, make sur e that the bel ts are visibl e to an oc cupant and not caught behind the sea t.
W ARNINGS Do not sit in a re ar row se at if any sea t in the row in fr ont has not been returne d to the full y upright position. Do not plac e loa ds on the seatba cks when they are in the f old fl at position. Make sur e that the fl oor cat ches are free fr om obstructions when l ocking the sea t leg s into them.
Folding the S eats Forward 1. Pull the l ow er rele ase str aps outwar d and hold them ther e. 2. Lift the sea t upwar d. Folding the S eats Down 1. Pull the upper r elea se straps do wn and hold them ther e, whil e pulling the seat down t o lock int o the floor .
Note: Make sure y ou align the front le gs and floor c at ches correc tly when l ocking the sea ts to the fl oor . Drop the fr ont seat l egs gentl y from a vertic al position into the fl oor ca tches. Y our rear sea ts hav e la tch indica tor s at the bott om of each sea t leg fr ont and rear .
HEA TED SEA TS W ARNING Pe ople who are unabl e to f eel pain to their skin bec ause of advanc ed ag e, chronic illness, diabetes, spinal cor d injury , medica tion, al cohol use, exhaustion or other ph ysical c onditions, must ex ercise c are when using the hea ted sea t.
W ARNINGS If used when the engine is not running, the ba ttery will l ose charg e. Ther e may be insufficient pow er to rest art the engine. Do not plug optional el ectric al acc essories int o the cigar lighter socke t. Incorr ect use of the lighter can c ause damage not c over ed by y our warr anty , and can r esult in fir e or serious injury .
The po wer point is used f or powering ele ctrical devic es that r equire up t o 150 wa tts. It is l oca ted under the parking br ake le ver . When the gre en indicat or light, loc at ed on the pow er point, is: • on — pow er point is ready t o supply pow er .
CUP HOLDER S W ARNINGS Do not plac e hot drinks in the cup holder s when your vehicl e is moving. Make sur e that cups pl aced in the holder s do not obstruct your vision while driving. O VERHEAD CONS OLE Overhead S tor age C ompartment W ARNING Do not plac e hea vy objects in the compartment.

GENERAL INF ORMA TION If you disc onnect the ba ttery , your vehicl e may e xhibit some unusual driving charac teristics f or appro ximat ely 5 mil es (8 kilome tres) a fter you r econnec t it. This is because the engine mana gement sy stem must re align itself with the engine.
T o unlock the st eering wheel: 1. Insert the ke y in the ignition switch. 2. T urn the ke y to position I . Note: Y ou may need t o rota te the st eering wheel slightl y to assis t unlocking if there is a ste ering wheel load applie d.
Y ou must carry out occ asional trips with the foll owing c onditions to a ssist the reg enera tion proce ss: • Drive y our vehicl e in more fa vour able conditions, which y ou will find at higher vehicl e speeds in normal driving, on a main road or mot orwa y for a minimum of 20 minutes.
• Make sur e the syst em is unplugg ed and properl y sto wed bef ore driving y our vehicl e. Mak e sure the prot ective c ov er seals the pr ongs of the block he at er cor d plug when not in use. • Make sur e the heat er syst em is check ed for proper oper ation be fore winter .
S T ART-S TOP EC O Sy stem Note: For vehicle s with start-stop the bat tery requir ement is different. Y ou must repl ace the vehicl e bat tery with one of exa ctl y the same specifica tion.
3. R el ease the cl utch pedal. 4. R elea se the acc eler at or pedal. The s ystem ma y not shut down the engine under certain c onditions, f or exampl e: • Lo w bat tery charg e. • The outside t empera ture is t oo low or too high. • The driv er's door has been opened .
S AFETY PREC AUTIONS W ARNINGS Do not ov erfill the fuel tank. The pressur e in an overfill ed tank ma y cause l eaka ge and l ead to fuel spr ay and fire. The fuel s ystem ma y be under pressur e. If you he ar a hissing sound near the fuel fill er door (Eas y Fuel capl ess fuel syst em), do not re fuel until the sound stops.
FUEL QUALITY W ARNINGS Do not mix diesel with oil, petr ol or other liquids. This c ould c ause a chemical r eaction. Do not add k erosene, par affin or petrol t o diesel. T his coul d cause damag e to the fuel sy stem. Use diesel tha t meets the specifica tion defined by EN 5 90 or the rel evant na tional specifica tion.
1. Loc at e the pla stic funnel in the glo ve box. 2. Slo wly insert the funnel int o the capl ess fuel syst em. 3. Fill y our vehicl e with fuel from the portabl e fuel container . 4. When done, cl ean the funnel or properl y dispose of it. Extr a funnels can be purcha sed from an authorise d deal er if you choose t o dispose of the funnel.
W ARNINGS Do not remo ve the nozzl e from its fully ins erted position during the entire r efuelling proce ss. Note: Y our vehicl e does not hav e a fuel filler cap . Note: Y our vehicl e must be unlock ed, with the door open bef ore opening and closing the fuel filler fl ap.
4. Opera te the no zzle within the are a shown. 5. Slightly raise the fuel no zzle t o remov e it. FUEL CONS UMPTION Note: The amount of usabl e fuel in the empty re serve varies and shoul d not be relied upon t o increa se driving range .
3. A fter a t lea st three t o five tank fill up s, fill the fuel tank and re cord the curr ent odomet er reading. 4. Subtr act your initial odomet er re ading from the curr ent odometer r eading.
MANUAL TR ANSMISSION Sel ecting Re verse Gear Do not engag e rev erse g ear when your vehicl e is moving. T his can caus e damage to the tr ansmission. Raise the c ollar when you s elect r ever se ge ar . HILL S T ART AS SIST W ARNINGS The s ystem does not r eplac e the parking brak e.
GENERAL INF ORMA TION W ARNING The s ystem does not r elieve y ou of your r esponsibility to driv e with due car e and att ention. Note: Occa sional brak e noise is normal. If a metal-t o-metal, continuous grinding or continuous sque al sound is present, the brak e linings may be w orn-out.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERA TION The tr action contr ol syst em helps av oid drive wheel spin and l oss of tra ction. If your v ehicle begins t o slide, the sy stem applies the brak es t o individual wheels and, when ne eded, r educes engine po wer at the s ame time.
