T he sa fe ty bel t pret ensioners on the r etr act or and anchor at the fr ont sea ting positions are de signed to tight en the sa fe ty bel ts firml y agains t the occupant's body when a ctiva t ed.

The l ap bel t portion of a combina tion lap and shoul der belt should be positioned l ow acr oss the hips bel ow the belly and w orn a s tight as c omf ort will allo w . The shoul der bel t should be positioned t o cross the middl e of the shoulder and the c ent er of the chest.
How t o Use the Automa tic Locking Mode E142591 1. Buckle the c ombina tion lap and shoulder bel t. 2. Gra sp the shoul der portion and pull downw ard until the entir e bel t is pulled out. Allo w the bel t to r etr act. A s the belt retr act s, you will he ar a clicking sound.

Note: If locking wa s not successful or if an y door or the liftg at e is open, or if the hood is open on vehicl es with a perimet er al arm or remot e start, the horn will s ound twice and the lamps will no t fla sh. The po wer windo ws will be inhibit ed during the remot e start and the r adio will not turn on automa ticall y . The parking l amps will remain on and the vehicl e will run f or 5, 10, or 15 minutes, depending on the setting.

1. Insert the k ey y ou want t o progr am into the ignition. If your v ehicl e is equipped with a push-butt on start, hol d the intellig ent acc ess k ey ne xt t o the steering c olumn. Details on the c orre ct f ob plac ement and position is in another chapter .
