3 Storing food and drinks Never store volatile or flammable materials in y our refrigerator or freezer as they may explode. Never freeze liquids in glass containers . Liquid expands during freezing, which may cause the cont ai ner to explode. Never freeze carbonated drinks .
4 Please follow the steps f or installation to ensure y our appliance operates correctly . 1. P ower T he appliance must be installed so the plug is accessible . To ensure that the appliance is not accidentally switched off , connect your r efrigerator or freezer to its own power point.
5 4. V entilation and installation To ensure adequate ventilation f or your refrigerator or vertical freezer , see r ecommended cabinetry dimensions below . T o ensure adequate ventilation f or chest freezers , allow a minimum of 20mm of airspace on each side of the cabinet, and 75mm at the rear .
6 Before placing f ood in the fresh food or fr eezer compartments Remove all packaging. Ensur e that all transit clips are remov ed from the refrigerator .
7 If yo ur refrigerator or freezer is turned off f or any reason, wait 10 minut es before turning it back on. This will allow the r efrigeration system pressures t o equalise before r estar ting. Moving your r efrigerat or Tu rn off the appliance and unplug from the power point.
8 If yo u need to hinge your door on the opposite side we re co mmend that you call your local F isher and Pa ykel Authorised Ser vice Centre or Dealer to make this con version. Ac tive Smar t™ r efrigerators with silver handles need t o be ordered either with left or right opening doors and can not be interchanged.
9 F it new cap door closing to bottom hinge bracket. The new cap door closing is a mirror image of the existing part. Remove the hinge hole co vers from the ends of the door using a narrow blade to prise them a way from the door . T he hinge hole covers ar e the components without holes.

11 S abbath mode To activate the Sabbath mode press the compartment selec t button on the temperature contr ol panel for 10 seconds . W hen the product is in sabbath mode: T he light will not operate when the door is opened. T he door alarm will not operate.
12 F ruit and v egetable bins and humidity control cov er T he fruit and vegetable bins featur e a unique cover which pr ovides two functions: T he humidity cover seals the bins and pro vides a humid microclimate to extend storage times of fruits and vegetables.
13 F ault alarms If the electronic controller detects a fault from which it is unable to r ecover an alarm will sound . When the fresh food c ompar tment door is opened a fault code (specific pattern of lights) will flash red and green on the C ontrol panel to alert you to the fault.
14 Replacement of the interior light (Halogen light bulb ) Tu rn the power off at the wall socket befor e replacing the bulb . The light bulb is located on the to p roof of the cabinet at the front. Remove the lens co ver using a small screwdriv er . Insert the screwdriver in the front c entre of the lens cover and gently lev er down.
15 Int erior It is important to keep the interior of the refrigerator and freez er clean to help prevent f ood from becoming contaminated during storage . T he amount and types of food stored determines ho w often cleaning should be carried out (ideally once every 1 to 2 weeks) in the refrigerator .
16 Int erior Glass shelves Clean with warm water and detergent or a glass cleaner . If cleaning the shelves without removing from the cabinet, use only warm water and deter gent as a glass cleaner can damage the plastic c omponents of your refrigerator .
17 Ac tive Smart™ cleaning care – special featur es Humidity Control S ystem (wher e fitted) Impor tant! When cleaning the shelf above the vegetable bins , we recommend that you do not disassemble the Humidity Control System from the shelf .
18 Ac tive Smart™ cleaning care – special featur es Roll out fruit and vegetable bin – E415H Remove f or cleaning by pulling out the compartment until it stops, lifting and then continuing to slide it forward until it is fully extended.

20 Cy clic and compac t special fea tures and main te nance P120 Ice bo x T his is designed for short-term storage of fro zen foods and ice only . It is recommended that the tray is kept in place under the ice bo x at all times.

23 Cy clic and compac t cleaning care Defrosting model C170T It is recommended that a fr eezer be defrosted when the fr ost is greater than 6mm thick. Remove all fro zen food and wrap it in several la yers of paper . Plac e food in the refrigerator c ompartment or a cool environment e.
24 Ve r tical freezer oper ating instructions Models: 525mm wide E150, E210 635mm wide E308, E388 T em perature c ontrol T he cabinet control is located at the bottom r ear of the cabinet. T he control has been factory set to position 4 for normal operating conditions.
25 Chest freezers special f eatur es and maintenance Defrosting your chest fr eezer It is recommended that y our freezer be defr osted when the frost is great er than 6 to 10mm thick using the plastic scraper provided. Remove all fro zen food and wrap it in sev eral layers of paper .
26 Storing food in y our r efrigerator Storing fresh, perishable f oods in your refrigerator helps to extend storage times . The cold t emperatures slow down the major causes of f ood spoilage – namely , the gro wth of bacteria, moulds and yeasts, and chemical and ph ysical reactions.
27 Storing food in y our r efrigerator Red Meat Place fresh red meat on a plat e and loosely cover with wax ed paper or plastic wrap or foil. Store cooked and raw meat on separat e plates. This will pr event any juices lost from the raw meat fr om contaminating the cooked product.
28 Storing food in y our fr eezer T he use of temperatures of -18˚C or colder to st ore food means that the f ood can be kept for longer periods than when refrigeration temperatures ar e used.
29 Storing food in y our fr eezer Meat, P oultry and Game Do not try to freeze more than 1kg meat per 25L freezer capacity . Meat must be frozen quickly in order to maintain its t exture. Do not stuff poultry before freezing. Red meat can be cooked from fro zen, or from the partly or completely thawed states .
