Operation Operation Note: Deter mine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position. Controls Operator Presence Control (OPC) Levers Located on the upper handle assembly directly abo ve the handle grips. When these lev ers are depressed, the OPC system senses that the operator is in the nor mal operator’ s position.
Operation The brak e lever engag es the park brak e on the dri ve wheels . Pull the lev er up and rearward to engage the brak e. Push the lev er forw ard and down to disengag e the brake . When parking on a steep slope , the wheels m ust be choc ked or block ed in addition to the brak e being engag ed.
Operation Operating Instructions Open the Fuel Shut-Off V alve R otate the v alve 1/4 turn countercloc kwise to turn fuel on. Starting the Engine 1. On a cold engine, place the throttle midwa y between the “Slo w” and “F ast” positions and place the c hoke in the “On” position.
Operation Driving the Machine Driv e Lev er/Neutral Lock Latch Operation T o loc k the driv e levers in “neutral lock”, squeeze the driv e lev ers to the “neutral” position (Do Not squeeze the dri ve levers all the wa y back as this will cause the driv e wheels to go into full reverse direction).
Operation Driving in Rev erse T o mov e rearw ard in a straight line , squeeze driv e levers into the rev erse position. T o turn left or right, squeeze the right hand driv e lev er to turn left and the left hand dri ve lev er to turn right.
Operation Figure 7 Left Hand Side Shown Adjusting the Anti-Scalp Rollers It is recommended to change the anti-scalp roller position, when the height of cut has changed. 1. Stop the machine and mo ve the driv e lev ers to the neutral lock position. 2. Disengag e the PTO .
Operation T ransporting T ransporting a Unit W ARNING Loading the mow er onto a trailer without strong enough or proper ly suppor ted ramps could be dangerous. The ramps could collapse causing the unit to fall, which could cause injur y . • Use proper ramps that are secured to the tr uck or trailer .
Maintenance Maintenance Note: Deter mine the left and right sides of the machine from the nor mal operating position. W ARNING While maintenance or adjustments are being made, someone could star t the engine. Accidental star ting of the engine could seriously injure y ou or other bystanders.
Maintenance Periodic Maintenance Check Engine Oil Level Service Interval: Before each use or daily 1. Stop engine and wait for all moving parts to stop . Make sure unit is on a lev el surface. 2. Check with engine cold. 3. Clean area around dipstick. R emov e dipstick and wipe oil off .

Maintenance Check for Loose Hardware Service Interval: Before each use or daily 1. Stop engine, wait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and remov e key . Engag e parking brake . 2. Visually inspect mac hine for any loose hardware or any other possible problem.
Maintenance 4. Inate tires to pressures stated abo ve . Measure the circumference of eac h driv e tire. Adjust tire pressures within the abov e range to try to make tire circumferences matc h as closely as possible . 5. Maintenance Figure 13 1. Charge pump cap 2. Loosen 1 1/2 turns only 1. Stop engine and wait for all moving parts to stop . Raise the rear of the machine up onto jack stands high enough to raise the dri ve wheels off the g round. 2. Check oil level as stated in Check Hy draulic Oil Level section.
Maintenance • OPC lev er hubs and cross-shaft Note: Care must be used not to bond the bearing, next to each OPC hub , to the cross-shaft which could cause binding of the OPC lev ers and er ratic operation. • Fuel tank studs , where studs are inserted into tank.
Maintenance control linkage until tabs are positioned cor rectly . See Figure 14. 3. Pull speed control lev er bac k to neutral. Check that the neutral safety switc h actuating tab has depressed the plunger of the switch so that there is about 5/16 inc h (7.
Maintenance 2. Loosen the front nut on left hy dro control link as shown in Figure 16. T ur n the rear control linkage adjusting n ut counterclockwise until wheel rotates forw ard.
Maintenance Hydro Pump Spring T ension Setting 1. F or medium or hea vy duty dri ve conditions such as operation with a sulky on steep slopes , a higher spring force may be required on the h ydro pump control ar ms to prev ent the dri ve system from stalling .
Maintenance Battery Disposal DANGER Batter y electrolyte contains sulfuric acid, which is poisonous and can cause severe bur ns. Sw allowing electrolyte can be fatal or if it touches skin can cause sev ere bur ns. • W ear safety glasses to shield ey es, and r ubber g lov es to protect skin and clothing when handling electrolyte.
T roubleshooting T roubleshooting Important: It is essential that all operator safety mechanisms be connected and in proper operating condition prior to mow er use. When a problem occurs , do not ov erlook the simple causes . F or example: starting problems could be caused by an empty fuel tank.
T roubleshooting Problem Possible Cause Cor rectiv e Action 1. T racking needs adjustment. 1. Adjust the tracking by tur ning knob on the right hydro control linkage in the direction that the mow er needs to be adjusted to . T urn the knob in 1/4 turn increments until the mower tracks correctly .
