4 AR450S Router C613-04045- 01 REV A Selecting a Site The router should be installed on a level surface such as a desktop or bench. When installing the router , choose a site that: ■ Allows adequate airflow around the router and its vents. ■ Is fre e of dust and moistur e.
Quick Instal l Guide 5 C613-04045 -01 REV A 5. Apply power to the router . Fit the power cord r etaining clip to the AC power inlet on the r outer ’s rear panel. Connect the provided power cor d to the AC power inlet and clip it in place. Switch the r outer ’s power switch to the ON position.

T o connect the PC directly to the r o uter , use a straight -thr ough Ethernet cable to connect an Ethernet car d on the PC to any one of the router ’s switch ports.
8 AR450S Router C613-04045- 01 REV A 4. Assig n an IP addr ess to VLAN1. Assign the VL AN1 interf ace an IP address in the s ubnet that th e PC uses, using the command: ADD IP INTERFACE=vlan1 IP= ipaddress MASK =mask 5.

Once initial configuration is complete, use a straig ht-through Ethernet patch cable to connect the r outer ’s Ethernet W AN (ETH0) port to the Ethernet port of a W AN device (such as a modem).
