T o reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way . If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet.
5 HOW T O ASSEMBLE - See Back Page for Assembly Items Packed in Carton. CAUTION: Assemble the cleaner before using. CAUTION: Moving parts. Make sure on/off switch is in off (0) position before plugging in. NOTE: Features may vary by model yet all parts assemble the same.
6 6. Y ou will find your cord retainer on the handle above the upper cord hook. Firmly push the electrical cord down into the cord retainer before using the vacuum. This will place the cord out of the way while you are vacuuming. Remove cord from retainer when ready to store vacuum or when using hose and attachments.
7 HOW TO USE 1. Cord Retainer . T o use, push electrical cord down into cord retainer . 2. Motor Filter Indicator (red light) (on some models). Indicates when motor filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. 3. HEP A Filter Indicator (red light) (on some models) Indicates when the HEP A filter needs to be replaced.
8 HOW TO USE (continued) 15. Hose Retainers (2) . Place hose on retainers to store hose on unit. 16. Electrical Cord Hooks (2) . Wrap electrical cord around them to store electrical cord on unit. The upper cord hook turns to release the cord. T urn the hook up to store the cord.
9 How T o Use Accessories NOTE: Place cleaner on floor with the handle in storage position while using accessories. Do not place cleaner on furniture or steps. 1. Separate hose end from cleaner by pulling up with a slight twisting motion. Remove hose from hose retainers.
10 1 2 NOT E: T urn off the switch and unplug the electrical cord before replacing belt. Belt pulleys can become hot during normal use. T o prevent injury , avoid touching the motor shaft when checking the belt. 1. Move brush roll control lever to hard floor position.
5. Insert right end into base. Make sure it is fully into position. Ensure belt is centered on brush roll pulley . NOTE: The new belt will appear to be too large. This is normal. How T o Replace Brush Roll Belt (continued) 5 6. Replace base plate by first inserting all 4 front tabs into slots on base.

Cleaning And Replacing Filters (continued) HEP A Filter Check the HEP A filter once a month. Replace at least twice a year or if suction is declining. Some models have a red HEP A Filter warning light. If light comes on and stays on, replace filter . HINT : For ease of assembly , lay cleaner on its back and proceed to the following instructions.
14 How to Remove and Check Clear T ube Low suction or poor pickup may be due to a blockage in the vacuum cleaner . T o Check Attachment Hose 1. Remove hose and check suction at end of hose - if little or no suction, check dust cup and filters. Empty dust cup and clean or replace filters, if needed .
How to Reassemble Clear T ube 10. Reattach hose to clear tube. Insert hose and rotate clockwise to secure. 1 1. Hook the bottom of the clear tube on the cleaner next to the combination brush storage location. 12. Swing top of tube up and against the cleaner till quarterturn lock is in place.
Motor will not start. 䡺 Electric Plug 䡺 Push plug securely into outlet. 䡺 T ry another outlet. 䡺 Check circuit breaker . Motor suddenly stops. 䡺 Thermal Cut Off 䡺 Refer to page 8. Does not clean the carpet or 䡺 Dust Cup and Filter(s) 䡺 Empty the dust cup.
