T o reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one b lade wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one wa y . If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, rev erse the plug. If it still does not fit, c ontact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet.
5 HO W T O ASSEMBLE CA UTION: Assemble the c leaner before using. CAUTION: Moving parts, make sure on/off switch is in off position before plugging in. NOTE: Features may vary by model yet all parts assemble the same. Step A Attach Handle CAUTION: Do not catch cord under handle.

7 Clean Under Use Handle Release 4 HO W T O USE The upright vacuum cleaner design allows use on m ultiple types of car peting and on upholster y or bare floors with attachments. When using the attachment tools, place the handle in the upright position.

9 HO W T O MAINT AIN The instructions in this booklet ser ve as a guide to routine maintenance. T o av oid unnecessar y ser vice calls, check the bag, belt, and brush roll often. Brush Roll The brush roll turns as it sweeps and combs the carpet nap. Remove hair and threads from the brush roll so it continues brushing the car pet.
10 8. Place belt around brush roll pulley . Align r ight end cap with square in base. Push end cap into place; see right side view . 9. Pull left side of brush roll to stretch belt. Secure left end cap in base. Roll brush roll to seat belt. 1 0. Replace hood.
11 Ho w T o Replace Bags–Style J NOTE: T urn off the switc h and unplug the electrical cor d bef ore changing dust bag. Never operate the v acuum c leaner without the dust ba g or the filter . It may be more convenient to lower the handle to the floor before changing the bag.
How to Check and Clear Hose Blockages Low suction or poor pic kup may be due to a b loc kage in the vacuum c leaner . 1. Remov e attachment hose and check suction at end of hose – if little or no suction, check disposab le dust bag. Change if needed.
13 1. Remov e the attachment hose from the lo wer hose retainer and look into the hose retainer for any obstructions. Proceed to Step 2 to check for any other blockages. 4. Chec k for b loc kages in the brush roll area and remov e any obstructions f ound there.
14 Motor Filter Check the motor filter with each disposab le dust bag change. Clean or replace as needed. T o Clean Motor Filter 1. Remov e bag cov er . Press down on handle latch and lift cov er awa y from cleaner . 2. The filter is located under the bag compar tment.
15 Some models will come complete with an extr a bonus hose which is ideal f or cleaning stairs. HO W T O ASSEMBLE AND USE ST AIR CLEANING HOSE (Only on Certain Models) Step 3 - Y ou are ready to clean your stairs . Step 2 - Connect the hose cuff to the end of the bonus hose.
