4 1 . ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 is the successor to the awar d‑winning product ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0 . It utilizes the scanning speed and the precision of ESET NOD32 Antivirus, granted by the most recent version of the ThreatSense® scanning engine.
5 2. Installation After purchase, the ESET NOD32 Antivirus installer can be downloaded from ESET ’s w ebsite as an .msi package. Launch the installer and the installation wizard will guide you thr ough the basic setup. There ar e two types of installation a vailable with dierent lev els of setup details: 1.
6 2. 2 Custom installation Custom installation is designed for users who hav e experience with fine ‑tuning programs and who wish to modify advanced settings during installation. After selecting the installation mode and clicking Next , you will be prompted to select a destination location for the installation.
7 Click Next to proceed to Configur e automatic update settings . This step allows you to designate how automatic program component updates will be handled on your system. Click Change... to access the advanced settings. If you do not want program components to be updated, select the Never update program components option.
8 2.5 On‑demand computer scan After installing ESET NOD32 Antivirus, a computer scan for malicious code should be performed. From the main program window , click Computer scan and then click Smar t scan . For more inf ormation about On‑demand computer scans, see section 4.
9 3. Beginner ’s guide This chapter provides an initial overview of ESET NOD32 Antivirus and its basic settings. 3. 1 Introducing user interface design – modes The main program window of ESET NOD32 Antivirus is divided into two main sections.

13 4. 1. 1.3 When to modify real‑time pr otection configuration Real‑time protection is the most essential component of maintaining a secure system. Therefore, please use caution when modifying its parameters. We r ecommend that you only modify its parameters in specific cases.
14 4. 1.3. 1. 1 Compatibility Cer tain email programs ma y experience problems with POP3 filtering (e.g., if receiving messages with a slow Internet connection, timeouts may occur due to checking). If this is the case, tr y modifying the way control is performed.
15 4. 1.4 W eb access protection Internet connectivity is a standard f eature in a personal computer . Unfortunately , it has also become the main medium for transferring malicious code. Because of this, it is essential that you car efully consider your W eb access protection.

19 W arning: In the Default mode, the entire archiv e file is deleted only if all files in the archive are inf ected. If the archive also contains legitimate files, it will not be deleted.If an infected archiv e file is detected in Strict cleaning mode, the entire archiv e will be deleted, even if clean files are pr esent.
