1-1 Setting Up the Printer | 1-1 Once you’ve as sembled the printer, you’ re ready to finis h setting it up. Even if you have no experience, you can easily c omplete this proc ess. You should allow at least two hours so that you don’t feel rushed.
1-2 1-2 | Setting Up the Printer 2. Push the indent ation on the ink comp artment cover to r elease the lock and open the cover. INK COMPART. OPEN appears on the dis play on the printer’ s contro l panel. 3. Push down o n the top of the first ca rtridge clamp and pull it forw ard.
1-3 Setting Up the Printer | 1-3 5. Hold the cartri dge so the arrow mar k on the left side of the cartridge is pointing to th e rear of the printe r. Insert the cartridge into the slot. Don’t for ce it. 6. Push the clamp back up into th e locked position.
1-4 1-4 | Setting Up the Printer Loading the Roll Paper Loading ro ll paper involves three steps: attachi ng the roll to the paper spindle , inser ting the sp indle in the printer , and loading the paper for printing. B efore yo u begin, remov e the pape r from it s box and re move the plastic cap and prote ctive cove ring.
1-5 Setting Up the Printer | 1-5 Inserting the Paper Spindle in the Pri nter Follow these steps to insert the s pindle in the p rinter: 1. Open the ro ll paper cover. Po sition the spin dle so that the wh ite end (with the wi de fixed pap er stop) is on the righ t.

Loading the Roll Paper Follow these steps to load the roll p aper for pr inting: 1. Press the Paper Sou rce button on the control panel until the Roll Auto Cut lig ht comes on.
1-7 Setting Up the Printer | 1-7 2. Pull the paper se t lever out, to the releas ed positio n. The Paper Out light on the control panel comes on and LOAD PAPER appears on the control panel display.
1-8 1-8 | Setting Up the Printer 4. Pull the paper down s o it extends all the way thr ough the slot. 5. Turn the roll back to remo ve the slack. Then align the pap er with the two rows of holes at the pap er exit.

Click Start , point to Settings , and clic k Printers . 2. Right-click your pr inter icon, then click Properties ( Docu men t Defaults for Win dows NT).

You can run the Prin t Head Alignmen t utility at this point t o check softw are ins talla tion a nd ma ke sure your print er is set up correc tly.

The pr inter prints the h ead alignment patter ns. Two rows c onsistin g of sets of 15 bars are p rinted across th e width of the pap er.

2-7 Handling Paper and Other Media | 2-7 Guidelines for Using Roll Paper Follow these guidelines w hen you print on roll paper : • When both spi ndles have roll paper on them, w rap one of the ro ll paper belts around th e roll you’re not usi ng. This keeps the pap er out of the way.
2-8 2-8 | Handling Paper a nd Other Media When you’re not using the roll paper b elt, keep it wound around the end of the spind le. Removing Paper from the Spindle If you need to remove the paper roll from the spindle, follow these steps: 1. Open the ro ll paper cover and lift out the roll and sp indle.

When you’re u sin g a pap er st ock or o ther print ing mat erial for t he first time, always t est it on a small p rint job.

If your image is more than 62 inches long, select Roll Paper (Banner ) . You ca n also use this setting to print a series o f conti nuous images without any “margin space” between them.
