Installing Batteries Yo ur P h ot oPC 6 0 0 co me s w ith fo ur A A (LR 6) al kali ne batteri e s. Make su re th e cam er a is o ff, and fol low t hese steps to inser t the batteries : 1. Atta ching th e Hand St rap To atta ch the hand strap, loop the strap around the holder on the side o f the camer a as sho w n belo w . Installing EPSON Photo!2 Softw are Photo PC 600 com es with EPS ON Photo!2 so ftware that lets you tr ansfer your pi ctures from the camera to your comp uter and plac e them into docu m ents.
For Windows 3 .1x or N T 3.51 1. I nsert the camer a soft wa re CD shi pped with you r camera in the CD-RO M dr ive. (If you use the floppy d isk versi on, insert it in a disk dr ive.) 2. O pen Fi le Manager, then click the CD -RO M dri ve. (If you use the fl op py di sk v ersio n, click the flop py d isk dr iv e.
Installing the software in your PC Follo w the step s in this sec tion to install the EPSO N Photo F ile U pl oad er sof twa re fo r Win dows. For Windows 95 or NT 4.0 1. I nsert the camer a soft wa re CD shi pped with you r camera in the CD-RO M dr ive.

Auto Sh ut-off To save battery power, th e camera tur ns itself of f aut omatic ally after 60 se co nds if no bu t tons ar e press e d. To turn the c amera back on , close the le ns cover then ope n i t a gai n. When your camera i s connected to the o ptional AC ad apte r, th e auto shut - of f featu re is di sabled.
The Display Panel The displ ay panel keeps track of how ma ny pi ctures you can take and giv es you inf orma t ion o n camer a settings and th e battery level. Chec kin g the Batte ry When t he bat t ery po w er is almost ou t, a lo w ba ttery ico n appear s on the displa y pan el.

Image quality Photo PC 600 has th ree c olor an d two mo nochro me image qu ality set t ing s. Press the imag e qu ali t y con tr ol bu t ton t o cy cle from o ne setti ng to ano ther. The set tings ap pear on the displ ay panel as show n belo w . Fine Imag es are captur ed in colo r at 1024 x 768 pixels .
You ca n sw itch freely between these set tings and m ix pict u res of va ryin g quality in t he cam er a. Th e came ra ’s ima g e cap ac ity will v ary ac co rdingly . Flash Photo PC 600’s bu ilt -i n fla sh is ef fec ti ve within a range of 20 cm t o 2.
3. P ress the timer bu tto n. The timer ico n app ears on the d isp lay p anel. 4. Press the shutter butto n. The timer icon a nd the red timer light on the fron t of the camer a f lash slo wly for eight seco nds , then ra pid ly fo r two seco nds before the sh ut ter releas es.
To use these specia l photo f orm ats, follo w these steps: 1. T u rn t he cam er a on and slid e the mo nit or mo de sw it ch to Vie w . A live preview ap pear s o n the LCD screen . 2. U se t he ph oto forma t but ton and n av igatio n buttons surr oundin g th e LCD m on it or to c ontro l th e pho to for m at mo des, as des cribed belo w .

In mul ti-frame mode, the LC D screen goes bl ack for a mom ent, then d isplays the nine stop -a ctio n fra m es one by one.

4. C onn ect the other end o f the video cable to the video input port on the tel evision. 5. T u rn on the televisi on and swit ch it to vid eo mo de. 6. Sl ide the moni tor m od e swi tch t o Playbac k . The last pic ture yo u took appears on the televisio n instead of th e LCD m on itor screen.
Chapter 3 Usin g Phot oPC 60 0 wit h Y our Com pu ter When yo ur ar e fini shed t aki ng pi ctures, you can c onn ect the camera to yo ur c omp uter and transf er the im ages. Then you can use them in your letters, pres entation s, or just abo ut anything yo u create on your c omputer.
The c ame ra’ s au t o shu t -off featur e rem ains in eff ect when the ca mera is c onnected to your computer, but it takes plac e after 5 m in utes of inact iv ity. To turn t he cam era ba ck on, you can c los e and reo pen the lens cover, or you can use any of the so ftw are camera co ntrols on your comp uter.
5. De p endin g on the typ e of cable yo u have, line u p either the arrow or the flat surfac e of the cable c onn ector with t he m ark on the cam e r a’ s seria l port. Then insert the connector. 6. Tu rn o n the cam era an d your compu ter syst em .
3. C o nnect the l ong cabl e to the sh or t cable (Macintosh adap t er cabl e), then ti ghten the scr ews . Line up the serial con nector on the sho rt cab le with either the mo de m or the p rinter p ort on you r co m pu ter , an d insert the co nnec t or.

M ake sure EPS ON Ph oto!2 is open and t he pic ture you wan t to use is in t he im ag e select io n w indo w.
After you cho ose the com mand , you see a box where you can enter t he fi le nam e of you r pi ctur e or ch oose from a list of fi l e s. 8. En t er the file name o r use the list to loca te and selec t yo ur p i ctu r e . 9. C lick OK . The picture ap pea rs in your d oc ume nt.
The only di fferenc es between the Folder men u and the Cam era m enu are that the Fold er m e nu do es no t have a photo sav e butt on, and d oes ha ve a Br ow se bu tto n and an Up lo ad Ph otos button. The Bro wse button allo ws y ou to select the folder co ntain ing the image files you wan t to displ ay in the image se lectio n w indow.

Transferring pictures to your documents After you select pi ctur es in the Fo l der m enu ’s im age select io n wi ndo w, yo u ca n insert them in your docu m ents.
Us ing the C ontro ls Me nu When yo u click the Contro ls t ab, the Co ntrols menu appea rs. The Control s m enu al lows you to see a li v e previ ew on you r co mputer scre en, t ake photo s fr o m your comp uter, and chang e the c am era set ting s.
Selecting the image quality setting Use the ar row beside the Mode l ist to selec t the follow ing setting s: Standa rd (640 x 480 pi xels) Fine (1024 x 768 pixe ls) Super Fin e (1024 x 76 8 pix e ls .
Displaying a live preview on your s creen Posi t ion t he ca mera facin g t h e subj ect. Using a trip od will give y ou ma x imum fl ex ibili t y i n setting up yo ur shots. Cli ck the St art button i n the Live P revi ew box on the Cont ro ls m e nu to d isp lay yo ur image in t he Live Preview win dow.
Us ing th e Setu p Menu Wh en yo u cl ick the Setu p tab, the Setu p m enu appears . The Setup men u allows y o u to c h a nge computer conn ectio n set tings an d to make other camera settin gs, suc h as t he da t e an d tim e .

Setting the clock Photo PC 600 ca n reco rd th e dat e and time o f your pictu res au tom atic ally . When yo u trans f er the pictur es from the cam era to yo ur comp uter, you can see exactly when eac h sho t was taken.
Chapter 4 Using the LCD Monito r Menu s When the LCD moni tor is in P layback mode, you can acces s t he LCD m on itor menu s, where you can erase sele cted ph otos and m ake a vari ety of camera an d option setting s.

Follo w thes e steps to ac cess the LCD moni t or me nu s: 1. Slid e the m oni t or m od e swi t ch t o Playbac k , t h e n press the SEL ECT button . M enu ic ons app ear at th e top of the LCD screen w ith the cur rently sel ected men u fr am ed in o rang e.
4. Press the b utton to increase the nu mber, or the button to decrease the number, u ntil th e item yo u w a nt to a dju st is co rr e c t. 5. Rep eat steps 3 and 4 until t he dat e and time ar e cor rectly adju st ed and sa ved . Press t he SEL ECT button or BACK b utto n to ret urn to the S etting s menu.
Setting the multi-frame shooting time Follow these steps to set the total time the cam era t akes to shoot nine fr am es in m u lti-frame phot o f o rmat . 1. W ith t h e Settin gs m enu se lected, pr ess the SEL ECT but t on. Ic ons for each s ettin g app ear on the screen , with t he cl oc k ico n high lighted in ora nge.

Select Photo 1. With the Pho to Control men u selec t ed, press the SELE C T button. The Pho t o Co ntrol featur es app ear on the screen, with the Erase op ti on h ig hlig ht ed in oran ge. 2. P ress the SEL EC T button to enter the Er ase mode, then press the or button to choose Selec t Phot o .
Locking photos The lock feature allo ws you keep yo ur photo s from being ac cident ally erased. You can loc k and u n lo ck sel ected ph otos fro m the Se l ect Pho to me n u , or loc k all the ph o tos in t he camera from the Lock A ll menu. To unlo ck all phot os, us e the Unl ock All menu .
3. P ress the SEL EC T button. A m essag e app ears as king y ou to con fir m that you w ant to lo ck al l t h e pho tos in the camera. Pr ess the SELE CT button to lock th e pho tos and r eturn t o the Ph oto Control m enu ; Press the BA CK button to retur n t o th e Pho to Co nt rol menu without locking the photos.
3. P ress the SEL EC T button to enter th e Copy mode, then press the or button to select Cam era → Ca rd or Ca rd → Came ra as the co py de s t i natio n. 4. P ress the SEL EC T button, then press the or but ton to m ove fo rw ard or bac k through the im ages in the camera u ntil the ph ot o you w ant to cop y ap pear s on the screen.
Using the Slid e Show Menu This menu a llows you to automa tically pl ay back al l the photos in yo ur camera one -by - one . Select this m enu as desc ribed on pa ge 60, then pres s th e SEL E CT button. The LC D m oni tor begi ns playin g back the ph ot os in you r camera on e-at-a-time at regu lar inter v als.
1. If there are an y photos in the cam era’ s in t er nal memo ry, trans f er the ones you wa nt to your com p ut er o r to a Co mpactF las h Card, then erase all the pho t os f rom t he came ra. c Cautio n: If an y ima ges ar e left in t he c ame ra’s memory wh en you u pl o ad an opt iona l pro gram , the camera ma y not work p roper ly.
Chapter 5 Using t he Uploader U tilities EPS ON Ph ot o PC 600 c omes wit h t wo up loa der uti l ity prog rams that all ow you to up loa d im ages a nd op t ion al prog rams from yo ur comp uter to your came ra .
To use EP SON P hoto File Upl oad er, you need to instal l it in yo ur comp ut e r alo ng w it h th e EPS ON Ph ot o!2 software. If you have not yet instal led these progr ams, do so now , foll ow ing the inst ruc t ion s on p age 17.
4. Sele ct th e im ages yo u w ant to upload in the Fil e Na m e list . Then cli ck the -> button. If you wa nt to upl oad all the im ages in the list at once, si mply c lick t he >> button. The selected fi les ap pear in the Selected Fi les Lis t in the order they will be uplo aded.
Note: If yo u want to p review a sel ected image and co nfirm its siz e, cli c k th e Previ ew c he ckb ox . 6. C lick the St ar t butto n. EPSON P h o to! 2 opens with the Fold er menu displ ayed. The imag es you want to upl oad appear in th e imag e s electio n window .
3. C lick the Ad d butto n. The Select Fil es dialog bo x app ears. D ouble- cl ick the folder co ntaini ng the images y ou wan t to u pload, t hen se lect each f ile yo u w ant to up l oa d a nd cl ic k th e Sel ect but ton. When yo u f i nish select in g image files, cl ick Do n e to clo se th e Select Fil es dialog box .
If you w ant to save co pies of the convert ed fi les on you r comp uter, cl ick the Sa ve fi l e t o check box bef ore upl oad ing the photos. C lic k Br owse , the n se le ct th e fol der w here yo u w ant to save the files . C lic k OK . The folder yo u selected is dis pla yed to the righ t of the Br owse bu t ton.
3. C lick the Scr een C aptu re menu tab. The Screen Capt ure men u ap pe a r s . 4. Fr om the Folder lis t, doubl e-click the folder w here you wan t to save the screen captur e. If you need to create a new folder for the im ages , clic k the New Fol de r but ton .
If you w ant t o up load your sc reen ca pt ur es t o the cam era right aw ay, cli ck the Uplo ad To Cam era men u tab. The screen c aptu re f il es app ear in the File N am e list . Fol low the up lo adin g direction s f rom st ep 4 on page 72 to uplo ad the sc reen ca ptur es.

Chapter 6 Cam era Op tio ns A variet y o f opt ion s are av ail able that expan d t h e flex ibil ity of your Pho toPC 600 . Opt io n al C ompactFl ash Cards allows y o u to increase the c a mera’s storage capa city.
Note: EPSON rec ommends use of E PSON Comp actF lash C ard s only. Other memor y card s may be inco mpati ble wit h th e EP SO N P ho to P C 600. Als o, if your comp uter is equip ped with a Typ e II .

To avoid lo sin g any images or settin gs, m ake su re th e cam era is fini shed p roc essi ng and is turned off before you c onn ect or disco nnec t the AC adap ter . Then fol low these steps: 1.
