Turn off th e printe r, then remove the front cove r. Open both sprocke t covers , and fit the firs t fou r ho les o f the p aper, pri ntabl e side up, over the t rac tor pins. Then close t he sproc ket cove rs. Note: Load continuous paper that has a clean, str aight edge to avoi d pa per jams.

If you feed continuous labels backward to th e tear- off pos ition, t he la bels may come off the b acking sheet and ja m the pri nter.

Make sure the left a nd right sprocket s are positione d properly for your pa per’s width. Do not load continuous paper with labels with the rear push tra ctor.
Atta ch the paper guide . Then set the paper relea se lever to the rear push tractor posi tion. Make sure that the paper gui de is ly ing flat o n the pri nter and the edge gui des are op en a ll t he way to the l eft and right. Th en rais e the continuous paper support.

Make sure that the print er is not printing. You may need to pre ss the Pause button to pause the printer. (When the printer is paused, the Pause light is on.) Tear off the fresh supply of continuous labels at t he perforat ion nea rest the paper entry slot.

Press the Operate butto n to tu rn of f the printe r. The p rinter is off when the surf ace o f the Operate butt on i s ev en with the butt on protectors as sh own. Unplug the printer from the electri cal outlet. c Caution: Moving t he print he ad whil e the prin ter is on m ay da mage the print er.
Press up the tabs on each side of the paper ten sion unit, th en lif t the f ront of the un it and pul l it up and out o f the printer. Make s ure the pri nt hea d i s not hot; i f it is, let it cool for a few minutes before touching it . Then slide the print head to the middle of the printer b y hand.
Remove the new ribb on cartridge from the pa ckag e and turn the r ibb on- tighte ning k nob in the di rectio n of t he arrow t o remove any slac k in the ribbon. Hold the ribbon cartridge by its handle and p ush it firm ly d own into po sitio n; then pre ss do wn on b oth ends o f th e cartri dge to fi t the plas tic hooks into the slo ts.
Use a point ed object, suc h as a ball point pen, to guide the rib bon between the pri nt hea d and ribb on guide while you turn the ribbon-tightening knob to help feed the ribb on into p lace. Note: Make s ure the ribbo n i s not tw isted or crease d and that it is place d behin d the print h ead.
Inst all the paper tension unit by placing it on the pri nter’s m ountin g pegs a nd l oweri ng it into p lace. Press down on both en ds of th e unit un til it click s into plac e. Repl ace the pr inte r c over by inse rti ng the f ront tabs into the s lot s on t he printer and loweri ng the cove r into place.
Press th e Ope rate button to turn of f the prin ter. Open the printer c over. 3 If continuous paper is jammed in the pri nter, te ar off the fre sh suppl y at the perforation neares t the paper entry slot.
Turn the knob on the lef t side of the printer a way from you to rem ove t he paper in the printer. Remove any remaining piec es of paper. c Caution: Use the knob to clear paper jams only when the printer is off. Otherwise, you may damage the printer or lose the top-of-form or tear-off position.
