3 Follo w these safety instructions when setting up and using th e projector : • Read these instructions. • K eep these instructions. • Heed all warnings. • Follo w all instru ctions. • Do not use this apparatus near water . • Clean only with dr y cloth.
4 T o reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not e xpose this apparatus to rain or moisture . Unplug the unit from the outlet and ref er all repairs to qualified serv ice personnel under the f ollowing conditions: • If smoke, unusual smells or unusual noises come from the un it.
5 Do not place containers with liquids, w ater or chemicals on top of the unit. If the containers spill and the contents get in si de the uni t, fire or electric shock may resul t. Ne v er look into the unit lens when the lamp is s witched on as the bright light can damage your ey es.
6 Class 1 LASER Product Do not open the top cov er . There are no user ser viceable par ts inside the unit. Do not use the unit in places where there are lots of humidity or dust, near cooking or heating appliances, or in places where it ma y come into contact with smoke or steam.
7 Unplug the unit from the outlet bef ore cleaning. This av oids el ectric shock during cleaning. When cleaning the unit, do not use wet cloths or solv ents such as alcohol, thinner or benzine. W ater infiltration or deterioration an d breakage of the unit case could result in electric shock.
8 T ake note of the following advice in order to prev ent malfunction and dam age. • Be sure to observe the oper ating temper atures and storag e temperatu res giv en in this guide when using and storing the projector . • Do not set up the unit in places wh ere it might be subjected to vibr ation or shoc k.
9 • The LCD panel is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology . Ho wev er , black dots may appear on the panel, or some red, blue or green do ts may li ght up e xtremely brightly at times. Furthermore, som etimes striped color irregularities or brightn ess irregularities may also appear .
10 Readable disc types The following discs can be played. • The perf or mance and tonal quality of cop y- control CD dis cs that do n ot conform t o the compact disc (CD) standard ca nnot be guarant eed with this unit. CDs that conf orm to the CD standard will bear the f ollowing compact disc logo ma rk.
11 Unreadable disc types • The f ollowing discs cannot be pla yed. • Round discs w ith a diam eter other than 8 cm or 12 cm • Irregularly shaped discs Disc Handling • A void touc hing the pla yback side wit h y our bare hands. • Be sure to store discs in th eir cases when no t in use.

17 Quick Start Quic k Star t Pl ay b a ck p ro c e d u r e No complicated connections are necessary . Y ou do not e ven need to select the tele vision type or change the input. Y ou can enjoy your D VDs on the big screen by following these four easy steps.
18 A Place the unit in a position that will enable the o ptimum siz e image to be projected on the screen. When you use a 16:9 ratio, 80” type widescreen, for example, place the unit approximately 241 cm away from the screen. * The distance from the center of the lens to the base of the screen.
19 Quick Start A Inser t the disc into its slot by f acing the disc label upward. If you are using a dual-side disc, face the side you wish to play downwards. Insert an 8-cm disc into the disc slot center position. A short beep sounds and the power comes on.

21 Quick Start If the unit i s tilted by up to 30° d egrees in an upward or downward orientation, you can correct the image shape. Howe ver , it will be diff icult to focus if the tilt angle is large.
22 Press . After stopping, when you press , playback is resumed from the interrupted scene (resume). A When y ou hav e pla y ed back a disc, press to eject the disc from its slot. • Once you hav e pressed , if you want to play back the ejected disc ag ain, you cannot push it back into the disc slot manually .
23 Quick Start From here on, operatio ns are explained pr imarily using the buttons of the remote control. Y ou can also use the buttons with the same markings as those on the uni t control panel to achiev e the same ef fect. Press duri ng pla yback. • Press on the operation panel.
24 Press or dur ing playbac k or when paused. If you press once during chapter/track playback, playback returns to the start of the chapter or track being played. After this, playback returns to the start of the previous chapter/track each time you press .
25 Quick Start The break function is useful if, in the middle of a movie, you want to get up or move around, get a drink, or some food, and so on . By simply pressing the button you can pause the disc b eing played until you can get up to turn the lights on in the room.
26 Ad v anced Operations Some discs have the follo wing kinds of original menus saved in them. • Root Menu: When m ultiple titles (ima ge and audio) ha ve been recorded, this integrated disc inf ormation is displa yed. • Menu: Title-specific pla yback data (chapte r , angle, audio , and subtitle menus) is displa yed.

Y ou can play a disc by selecting the desired chapter from any of the following two menus. • PBC (Playba ck con trol) func tion: If a Video CD with “PBC (pla yback control) enab led” specified on the disc or jac ket is inser ted into the disc slot, a menu screen is displa ye d.
28 If you select “Others” fr om the settings menu and set “PBC” to “Off”, the disc is played directly without displ aying the menu screen. Although the , or files stored in a disc and a USB storage de vice are pla y ed bac k by se lecting the desired file from a File List, the functi on v ar ies depending on the file, as f ollows .

31 Adv anced Operations When pla ying MP3/WMA audio Once menu selection is complete and the audio be gins, close the lens cov er . Y ou can enjo y just th e music being played. Sim ultaneous MP3/WMA and JPEG pla ybac k If a disc contains a mix of MP3/WMA and JPEG files, you can enjoy the Slideshow with sounds.

33 Adv anced Operations Canceling re peat play Press repeatedly until “Repeat Off” is displayed on the screen. • does not allow use of the “T it le repeat” function with some D VDs. • Y ou can also repeat the play from the playback information screen.
34 Y ou can set titles, chapters, and tracks to playback in your order of preference. 1 Press dur ing play or when paused. The program screen will appear fo r you to set a playback sequence. 2 Using the numeric k eys , enter title and track/ch apter numbers sequentially .
35 Adv anced Operations Y ou can zoom (enlarge or compress) th e projection image on the unit screen. If the enlar ged image exceeds the screen size, you can display it by panning. 1 Press dur ing pla yback. The magnification (or zoom rate) is displayed.
36 When a disc has been recorded with multip le audio signals or lan guages, you can switch to the av aila ble audio signal or language of your preference. 1 Press duri ng pla yback. The current audio settings are displayed on th e screen. 2 Select the desired settings b y pressing repeatedly .
37 Adv anced Operations For discs that ha v e been recorded with multiple camera angles, you can switch from the main angle to a dif ferent camera angle of y our preference, such as from above, or from the right, during playback . 1 Press duri ng pla yback.

39 Adv anced Operations When the time you set on the sleep timer has passed, the un it po wer switch is turned of f automatically . Y ou can pr ev ent unnecessary po wer from being consumed if you fall asl eep while watching a movie.
40 The unit automatically recognizes the as pect suitable for the input signal, and the image is projected in the approp riate aspect. If you want to change the aspect yourself, or if the aspect is not correct, you can change it in the follo wing way .

42 Y ou can attach a USB memory or multicard reader that conform to the USB 1.1 to the unit and play the following format fil e s . • MP3/WMA files • JPEG files • DivX ® files The file playback and your operations during play are the same as when you play files of a using the standard D VD player .
43 Adv anced Operations Aside from the built-in D VD player, this unit can project images b y connecting to a computer or th e following de vices with a video output port.
44 Connecting with a component video cable Connecting with an HDMI cable Use a HDMI cable that meets the HDMI standard. Otherwis e, the image may not be displayed clearly or lost. For a D port output de vice, use a commercially av ailable D port - component con version cable.

46 This unit automatically detects inpu t si gnals and changes the projected image. The projector automatically detects signals bein g input from connected equipment, and th e image being input from the equipment is projected.
47 Adv anced Operations When a computer image is not pr ojected Y ou can switch the image signal destin ation from the computer b y holding down and pressing (the key is usually labeled or ). s Computer “Documentat ion” After switching, wait a few seconds for projection to start.
