Low power mode If the product is inactive for 13 minutes, th e LCD screen turns black and all lights, except the On li ght, go out to save energy.
6 Handli ng Pa per Handling Paper Epson offers an e xtensive line of special papers that provide outstandi ng results when us ed with Epson printers and ink. The type of paper you choose affects the way you r printout looks , so be sure to select the correct paper for your job.

8 Copying Copying You can copy documents and photos without a computer. Note the followin g when copying: ■ The copied image may not be exactly the same size as the orig inal. ■ Depending on the type of paper used, print quality m ay decline in th e top and bottom areas of the printout, or these areas may be smeared.
Copy ing 9 English 1. Load A4 plain paper ( & page 6 ). 2. Place your orig inal on the do cument table ( & “Placing Orig inals on th e Document Tabl e” on pag e 8). 3. Make the follo wing settings on the control panel. If you need t o stop copying, press the y Stop/ Clea r button.

12 Printing from a Memory Card Printing from a Memory Card You can print photos directly from your digit al camera's memory card. Just insert it into the memory card slot and you are ready to print. Handling a Mem ory Card Compatible cards Make sure your memory card meets the following requirements.
Printing from a Memory Card 13 English c Caution: Make sure y ou check which direction the ca rd should be inserted, and if the c ard needs an adapter mak e sure you attach the adapter before inserting the card. Otherwise, you may not be able to remove t he card from the pr oduct.

You can not pri nt all of the ph otos on the card, even w hen f / e [ Print All/PictBridge ] is sele cted. To print all the p hotos on the me mory card, cancel the DPO F information f rom your digital camera.

20 Maintena nce Ink cart ridge pre cautions w Warning: If ink gets on your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets in your eyes, f lush them immediately with water. If you still have discom fort or vision problems, see a doctor immediately.
Maintena nce 21 English 4. Remove the cartridge you need to replace. Squeeze the tab at the ba ck of the cartridge an d lift it straigh t out. Dispose of it careful ly.
22 Maintena nce 10. Close the scann er unit. 11. Press the x Start button. When the product begins charging, on e of the following L CD screens is displayed. This takes about o ne minute. When th e ink charging fini shes, it auto matically returns to the Copy mode.
Maintena nce 23 English Cleaning the print head Follow these steps to clean the print head so it can deliver ink properl y. Before cleaning the print he ad, run a nozzle check to see if the print head needs cleani ng ( & “Checking t he print h ead” on page 22).

Solvin g P roble ms 25 English Solving Problems If you have a problem with the product, check the mes sages on the LCD screen to diagnose what may be causing the problem. You can al so check “P roblems an d Soluti ons” o n page 27 for troubleshooting s uggestions on usi ng the product without a computer.
26 Solv ing Pr oblem s An error occurred dur ing photo pre-scanning. Check that the photo is placed correctly and try again ( & “Placing Originals on the Document Table” on page 8). Not enough ink to perform head cleaning. Replace with new ink cartridges ( & “Replacing Ink Cartridges” on page 19).
