5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and conn ection instructions” . • If the appliance is delivere d in th e winter months when there ar e mi- nus temperatur es: stor e the washin g machine at r oom temperatur e for 24 hours befor e using for the fir st time.
6 Gener al safety • Repairs to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineers. • Never use the appliance when the el ectrical cable is damaged o r the control panel, worktop or plinth ar ea are damaged to such an extent that the inside of the app liance is openly accessible.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 1 litr e of water through the deter gent dr awer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next progr amme is started and the economy valve can function pr operly 3.
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/l oading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and ST ART/P AUSE indica- tors show whether the door can be opened: 2. Separate washing and load it loose- ly .
12 • Water softener should be used fr om water hardness r ange 2 (=medi- um). The amount of detergent used can then always be that as for hardness r ange 1 (=soft). Y our local water company will pr ovide you with information about water hardness in your ar ea.
13 Switching on the appliance/selecting a pr ogr amme Set the progr amme and temper a- ture using the pr ogra mme selector . 3 The appliance is switched on by se- lecting a progr amme. – The progr amme pr ogr ess display shows the progr amme steps that the selected progr amme will car- ry out.
14 Selecting additional pr ogr ammes If r equired, pr ess additional pr o- gramme button(s). The correspond- ing indicator will illuminate. 3 If “ Err ” flashes in the multi-display , the selected additional progr amme cannot be used together with the wash progr amme set.
15 Setting the delay timer 3 Using the DELA Y TIMER button you can delay the start of a progr amme by 30 minutes ( 30 ') to a maximum of 23 hours ( 23h ). 1. Select the progr amme. 2. Press the DELA Y TIMER button r epeated ly until the desir ed start delay is shown in the multi-dis play , e.
16 Interrupting a pr ogr amme/adding washing Interrupting a pr ogr amme • A progr amme can at any time be in terrupted by pressing the START/ PAUSE button and r esumed by pressing ST ART/PAUSE again. • To cancel a pr ogr amme before it has ended, turn the progr amme se- lector to OFF .
17 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise di- rection as far as it will go.
18 Cleaning and maintenance Important! Do not use furniture car e pr odu cts or aggressive cleaner s to clean the appliance. Wipe control panel and body with a damp cloth. Cleaning pr ocedure If you plan to wash mainly at low temper ature, you should run a hot progr amme fr om time to time.
19 Door and rubber collar Regularly check whether deposits or for eign bodies are pr esent in the folds of the rubber collar or on the inside of the glass doo r .

21 If the wash result is not satisfactory The washing is grey a nd there ar e limescale deposits in the drum • Too little detergent was used. • An incorr ect detergent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temper ature was not set pr operly .
22 There ar e white r esidues on the washing • What can be seen here ar e insolu ble substances which modern deter- gents contain. They are not the r esult of insufficient rinsing. Shake or brush the wash ing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing.
23 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e ar e no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
24 Disposal 2 Packaging material The packaging materials are envir onmentally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components are id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.

26 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being transpor ted. Do not under any cir cumstanc- es connect an appliance that is dama ged to the mains.
27 Installing the appliance T r ansporting the appliance 1 War n in g: The washing machine is very heavy . There is a risk of injury . Exercise car e when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the washing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen from the f ron t).
28 3. Remove both plastic caps sideways. 3 Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 units) and C (1 unit) come with the appliance. 4. Use special spanner A to r emove screw D and the compr ession spring. 5. Turn sealing cap C upside down as shown in the illustr ation.
29 • If the location in which the applianc e is to be installed is fitted with small-format tiles, put a rubber ma t (available in the shops) under the appliance. If the appliance is to stand on a base: In order for the appliance to be se- cure on the base, fixing plates*) must be mounted, into which the appliance is inserted.

32 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pr essure hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer inlet hose is r equir ed, only hoses fr om the manufa cturer a re to be used.
33 Wa te r Dra i na g e The appliance dr ain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an ai r br eak between the drain hose and standpipe.
34 Pumping heights of over 1 metr e The washing machine’s dr ain pump is ab le to pump water to a height of 1 metre, calculated fr om the surface on which the applia nce is installed. Important! If pumping height is over 1 metr e malfunctions and dam- age to the appliance may arise.
