Operating Instructions 5 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Safety Instructions The safety aspects of AEG electrical appliances comply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law.
Operating Instructions 6 • Never place the dishwasher in ope ration if the mains cable, water inlet or drain hose is damaged; or the control panel, work top or plinth area is damaged such that the inside of the appliance is freely accessible.
Operating Instructions 7 • In the event of a fault, first close the tap, then switch off the appli- ance and unplug it from the mains. If the appliance is permanently wired to the mains: remove the fuse. 2 Disposal Disposing of the Pa ckaging Material Dispose of the dishwasher packaging material correctly.

Operating Instructions 9 Control Panel The control panel consists of the ON/OFF button and the programme buttons with LED displays. Function buttons: In addition to the stated wash programme the fol- lowing functions can also be set using these buttons: The Multi- Display can display, – the hardness setting to whic h the water softener is set.
Operating Instructions 10 Indicators have the following significance: 3 The FILTER indicator is intended to remind you to check the filters in the dishwasher from time to time an d, if necessary, to clean it. The indicator illuminates at regular interv als, independent of the amount of soiling of the filters.
Operating Instructions 11 Prior to using for the first time Prior to using for the first time, remo v e all the clips with which the dish racks are secured for transport. Then perform the following steps: 0 1. Adjust the water softener 2. Fill with Salt for the Water Softener 3.
Operating Instructions 12 Adjust the water softener to the ha rd ne ss o f t he wa te r i n y ou r a rea as stated in the table: 0 1. The dishwasher must be switched off. 2. Manual adjustment: Open the dishwasher door. 3. Remove the lower rack from the dishwasher.
Operating Instructions 13 Filling with Salt fo r the Water Softener 1 Use only special salt for dishwashers. Never fill the salt container with any another type of salt (e.g. culinar y salt) or dishwasher detergent, as this would irreparably damage the water softener.
Operating Instructions 14 Rinse Aid Rinse aid ensures that dishes emerge thoroughly rinsed and spot free while glasses are clear and shining. There are two ways to add rinse aid: • If you use detergent that already contains rinse aid, the detergent and rinse aid are placed in the detergent container.
Operating Instructions 15 Filling with Rinse Aid If you use separate detergent and rinse aid, fill up with rinse aid: – prior to using the dishwasher for the first time – whe n the RINSE AID indicator on the control panel is illuminated. The rinse aid compartment is on th e inside of the dishwasher door.
Operating Instructions 16 Adjusting Rinse Aid Dosing 3 As the dishes are washed rinse aid is released from the disp enser into the wash water. The dose is factory set at 4, and can be adjusted from 1 to 6. Only change the setting if streaks, milky spots or dried on water marks are visible on glasses or crockery.
Operating Instructions 17 In Daily Use • Check the salt and rinse aid leve ls. • Load cutlery and dishes into the dishwasher • Fill with dishwasher detergent • Select a wash programme suitable.
Operating Instructions 18 – To avoid damage to glasses, they must not touch – Do not lay small objects (e.g. lids) in the cutlery rack Loading Cutlery 1 Long bladed knives stored in an up right position are a potential hazard . 1 Long and/or sharp items of cutlery su ch as carving knives must be posi- tioned horizontally in the upper basket.
Operating Instructions 19 On some models of dishwasher it is possible to open the cutlery basket. 1 To ensure that the cutlery basket cannot open on removal from the appliance, you should always hold both parts of the two part handle. 0 1. Place the cutlery basket on a table or work surface 2.

Loading Cups, Glasses and Coffee Services Load small, delicate items and long pointed cutlery in the upper rack. • Arrange items of crockery on the folding cups racks so that they are offset from each other and water can reach all items.
Operating Instructions 21 Adjusting the Height of the Upper Basket 3 The height of the basket can also be adjusted when it is loaded. Lowering the Upper Basket: 0 1. Pull the upper basket out completely. 2. Holding the upper basket at the rear right, lift it as far as it will go and then lower it vertically.
Operating Instructions 22 Filling with Detergent 1 Only use dishwasher detergent. Fill with detergent: – Prior to the start of a wash programme (not for the pre wash pro- gramme).
Operating Instructions 23 Concentrated Detergent Based on their chemical compositio n, dishwasher detergents can be split into two basic types: – conventional , alkaline detergents with caustic components –l o w a l k a l i n e concentrated detergents with natural enzymes.
Operating Instructions 24 Selecting the Wash Progr amme (Programme Table) Choose the most suitable wash program me with the aid of this table: 1) This programme is not suitabl e when left-overs have dried on.
Operating Instructions 25 4) The “ ENERGY SAVING “ wash programme washes normally soiled dishes with a ve ry low electricity consumption. If the dis hes need to be washed more qui ckly, as an alternati ve you can use the “ NORMAL 50 ° “ wash programme.
Operating Instructions 26 Starting the Wash Programme 0 1. Check that when the dishes and cutl ery are loaded into the dishwasher the spray arms are free to rotate. 2. Open the tap fully. 3. Shut the door. 4. Press the ON/OFF button The ON/OFF button indicator illuminates.
Operating Instructions 27 0 1. Open the door of the dishwasher. The wash programme stops. 2. Shut the door. The wash programme continues. Cancelling the wash programme 0 1. Press the button for the wash programme in progress and keep it pressed. The programme indicator for the wash programme in progress flashes for a few seconds and then goes out.
Operating Instructions 28 Load Sensing – Sensor Logic If a wash programme is started even though there are only a few dishes in the upper and/or lower rack, an in telligent electronic system adjusts the amount of water and the durati on of the wash programme to the number of dishes.
Operating Instructions 29 Care and Cleaning 1 Do not under any circumstances use fu rniture care products or aggres- sive cleaners. • If necessary, clean the controls only with a soft cloth and pure warm water. • O ccasionally check the internal cont ainers, door seal, and water inlet for soiling, clean if necessary.
Operating Instructions 30 7. Put the flat filter back in the base of the washing compartment 8. Place the coarse/fine filter in the microfilter and press together. 9. Put the filter combination in place and lock by turning the handle clock- wise to the stop.
Operating Instructions 31 What to do, if ... Try to rectify minor faults on the dishwasher with the aid of the instructions given here. If you call an engineer to resolve a of fault listed here, or to repair a fault caused by incorrect use or installation, a charge will be made even if the appliance is in guarantee.
Operating Instructions 32 During a wash pr ogramme the SPRAY ARM indica tor illuminates at irregular intervals and 1 longer warning tone can be heard at the same time. The middle spray arm is jammed. Open the d oor carefully , as hot steam can escape when the door is opened.
Operating Instructions 33 ...there are problems with th e operation of the dish- washer. ...the wash result is not satisfactory. The dishes are still dirty. – The wrong wash programme was selected. – The dishes were arranged in such a manner that water has not reached all parts.
Operating Instructions 34 – The drain hose is incorre ctly laid. The dishes are wet and dull. – Rinse aid was not used. – The rinse aid container is empty. There are streaks, milky spots or a bluish coating on glasses and dishes. – Decrease rinse aid dosing.
Operating Instructions 35 Notes for Test Institutes Testing in accordance with EN 60704 must be carried out with the appliance fully loaded and using the test programme (see Programme Table).

Installation and Connectio n Instructions 40 Water drain Drain hose 1 The drain hose must not be kinked, crushed or entangled. • Connecting the drain hose : – Maximum permitted height: 1 metre. – Minimum required height 30 cm abov e the lower edge of the machine.
Installation and Connection Instru ctions 41 Leak Prevention System For protection from damage due to water leaks, the dishwasher is equipped with a leak prevention system, the AQUA CONTROL SYSTEM. In the event of a fault, the safety valve immediately interrupts the sup- ply of water to the appliance and the drain pump switches on.
Installation and Connectio n Instructions 42 Electrical Connection Any electrical work required to inst all this appliance should be car- ried out by a qualified elec tr ician or competent person. 1 WARNING - This appliance must be earthed. The manufacturer declines any resp onsibility should these safety measures not be observed.
Installation and Connection Instru ctions 43 Connections The water inlet and drain hoses, as well as the mains cable must be connected beside the dishwasher as there is insufficient space behind the appliance. The plumbing and electrical installa tion example given below can only be regarded as a recommendation.
Guarantee Conditions 44 GUARANTEE CONDITIONS Guarantee Conditions AEG offer the following guarantee to the first purchaser of this appliance. 1. The guarantee is valid for 12 month s commencing when the appliance is handed over to the first retail purchaser, which must be verifi ed by purchase invoice or similar doc- umentation.
