Ports 17 A PPENDIX B P orts The OmniAccess 4324 Wireless LAN Switch has a number of ports, each with their own purpose: z 24 F ast Ethernet (FE) ports Used for connecting to Access Po ints (APs) and wired L AN segments. These 10/100 Mbps FE ports aggregate and route traffic under the direction of the s witch’ s internal softw are.
OmniAccess 4324: I nstallation Guide 18 Part 031640-0 0 May 2005 FE Netw ork P orts The Alcatel Wireless LAN Switch h as 24 10/100 Mbps Fast Eth ernet (FE) network ports. The FE ports are used for connecting th e switch to wirele ss Access P oints (APs) and wired LAN segments.
Ports 19 Appendix B FE Network P orts P orts are gr ouped in banks of 8 (as shown in Figure B-1 on page 18 ). There are 3 banks, for a total of 24 ports. These ports provide 10/100 Mbps F ast Ethernet connectivity , and in some cases, power and se ri al connectivity as well.

During oper ation, the LEDs provide the following information: The LED states in Ta b l e B - 3 are listed in order of precedence (highe st to lowest).
Ports 21 Appendix B Cables The type of ca ble required for each port de pends on the device being connected: z Direct connection to a SPOE compat ible device. This requires an 8-conductor Category 5 UTP Ethernet cable with an RJ-45 male connector . A straight-thro ugh cable is required to preserve POE voltage polarity .
