5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and connection instructions” . • If the appliance is delivered in the winter months when ther e ar e mi- nus temperatur es: store the washing machine at r oom temperatur e for 24 hours befor e using for the first time.
6 • Switch off the washing machine prior to cleaning it and carrying out maintenance. In addition, remove the power plug fr om the power point or – if the appliance has been har d-wired – sw itch off the cut- out in the fuse box or completely remove the fuse.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 1 litr e of water through the detergent dr awer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next pr ogramme is started and the economy valve can function properly .
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/l oading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and START/P AUSE indica- tors show whether the door can be opened: During the progr amme the door is locked when the water level or the temperatur e is high.
12 1. Pull out the detergent dr awer as far as it will go. 2. Add the detergent/condit ioner . 3. Push the deter gent drawer in fully . Washing powder/tablets fo r the main wash cycle If you are using.
13 Changing the spin speed /selecting rinse hold The washing machine sugges ts the maximum permitted spin speed suitable for the selected pro- gramme. Y ou can reduce this spin speed: To do this, pr ess the Spin/RINSE HOLD button repeatedly until the requir ed indicator is illuminated.
14 PRE WA SH W arm pre -wash befor e the main wash that follows automatically; with intermediate spin for COTT ONS/LI NEN and EASY -CARES, without inter- mediate spin for D ELICATE S. ST AIN For heavily soiled or stained washing. Stain removal agent will be rinsed into the wash at the optimum point in the progr amme.
15 Pr ogramme sequence • The progr amme progr ess display shows the progr amme step that is currently being carried out. • The multi-display shows the estimated time remaining (in minutes) until the end of the pr ogramme.
16 If RINSE HOLD has been selected: After the rinse hold, END lights up on the progr amme progr ess display . The water must firs t be drained: – Either turn the pr ogramme knob to OFF , then to DRAIN and pr ess the ST ART / P AUSE button (the water is dr ained without spinning), – or turn the progr amme knob to OFF and then to SPIN.
17 Cleaning and car e Important: Do not use furniture cleaning pr oducts or aggressive clean- ing agents to clean the appliance. Wipe over the control panel and housing with a damp cloth. Deter gent drawer The detergent dr awer should be cleaned r egularly .
18 What to do if... Remedying small faults yourself If during use of the appliance one of the following error codes is shown in the multi-display: – E10 (Pr oblems with the water inflow), – E20 (Pr oblems with the water outflow), – E40 (door open), please consult the following table.
19 E10 appear s. The END indicator is flashing once, and si- multaneously an acous- tic signal is so unding once. (Problems w ith the wa- ter inflow .) The tap is sh ut off. Turn on the tap. The filter in the inlet hose screw connection is blocke d. Turn off the tap.
20 If the wash r esult is not satisfactory The washing is grey and there ar e limescale deposits in the drum • Too little deter gent was used. • An incorrect deter gent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set pr operly .
21 There ar e white residues on the washing • What can be seen here are insoluble substances which modern deter- gents contain. They are not the r esult of insufficient rinsing. Shake or brush the washing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing.
22 Dr ain pump The drain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.

24 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, ch eck the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being transpor ted. Do not under any circumstanc- es connect an appliance that is damaged to the mains.
25 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 War n i n g : The washing machine is very heavy . There is a risk of injury . Exercise car e when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the w ashing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen fr om the front).
26 3 Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 units) and C (1 unit) come with the appliance. 3. Use special spanner A to remove screw D and the compr ession spring. 4. Use sealing cap C to cap the hole. 5. Use special spanner A to remove the two screws E.
27 Making the appliance level The four feet of the appliance are pre-adjusted. Large degr ees of unevenness can be compensated for by adjusting the four feet of the appliance. Use the special spanner supplied to do this. Important: Do not use pieces of wood, cardboar d or such like to level out small degr ees of unevenness in the floor .
28 Electrical Connection Any electrical work requir ed to inst all this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNING – THIS APPL IANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liabili ty should these safety measur es not be observed.
29 P ermanen t Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appliance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 m m between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the curr ent electrical regulations.
30 Connecting the appliance to the water supply Important: • This appliance must not be connected to the hot water supply . • When connecting the appliance, use only new hose ki ts.
31 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pressure hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer inlet hose is required, only hoses fr om the manufacturer ar e to be used. Y our local Service Force st ocks hose kits of different lengths. 3 Sealing rings are either inserted in th e plastic nuts of the thr eaded hose fitting or are included as spar e pa rts.
32 Wa t e r D ra i n a g e The appliance drain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed usin g the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an air br eak between the drain hose and standpipe.
33 Pumping heights of over 1 metr e The washing machine’s drain pump is able to pump water to a height of 1 me tre, calculated fr om the surface on which the appliance is installed. Important! If pumping height is over 1 metre malfunctions and dam- age to the appliance may arise.
