4 Physical Condition Your judgment and physical dexterity may not be good: • if you are tired or sick, • if you are taking medication, • if you have taken alcohol or drugs. Operate unit only if you are physically and mentally well. Eye Protection Wear eye protection that meets ANSI Z87.

12 A SSEMBL Y PB-770H W ARNING Never perform maintenance or assembly procedures with engine running or serious personal injury may result. INST ALL BLOWER PIPES / STICK HANDLE ( H ) 1 . Assemble clamps (A) onto both ends of flexible pipe (B). 2 . Assemble swivel pipe (C) into flexible pipe (B) and tighten clamp (A).

14 NOTICE: Use of unmixed, improperly mixed, or fuel older than 90 days, (stale fuel), may cause hard starting, poor performance, or severe engine damage and void the product warranty. Read and follow instructions in the Storage section of this manual.
15 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL Mixing Instructions 1. Fill an approved fuel container with half of the required amount of gasoline. 2. Add the proper amount of 2-stroke oil to gasoline. 3. Close container and shake to mix oil with gasoline.
16 ST ARTING COLD ENGINE • Recoil starter: Use short pulls - only 1/2-2/3 of rope length for starting. Do not allow the rope to snap back in. Always hold the unit firmly. • (PB-770H): Rotate spring loaded throttle arm downward to a comfortable operating position.
17 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL ST ARTING W ARM ENGINE The starting procedure is the same as Cold Start except DO NOT close the choke. PB-770H 1.
18 Read the Safety Section on pages 3 - 6 carefully. IMPORTANT To avoid engine damage due to over-revving, do not block blower pipe opening. 1 . Use only during appropriate hours. 2 . Allow the engine to warm up at a fast idle for a few minutes. 3. PB-770H Set engine speed with throttle lever (A).
19 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL Cold W eather Operation: 1 . Remove back cushion (A) from frame. 2 . Install intake cover (B) on frame over air intake. 3 . Install back cushion (A) to frame over intake cover. NOTE Blower performance may be reduced slightly.
20 MAINTENANCE INTERV ALS M AINTENANCE Your ECHO blower is designed to provide many hours of trouble free service. Regular scheduled maintenance will help your blower achieve that goal. If you are unsure or are not equipped with the necessary tools, you may want to take your unit to an ECHO Service Dealer for maintenance.
21 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL AIR FIL TER Level 1. Tools required: 25 - 50mm (1 - 2 in.) cleaning brush Parts required: Tune Up Kit NOTE Always brush dirt and debris away from air cleaner area prior to cleaning air filter. 1 . Brush dirt off air cleaner area.
22 SP ARK PLUG Level 1. Tools required: 3/4 in. Spark Plug deep socket, Feeler gauge Parts Required: Repower TM Tune Up Kit IMPORTANT Use only NGK BPM8Y spark plug (BPMR8Y in Canada) otherwise severe engine damage may occur. 1 . Remove spark plug , and check for fouling, worn and rounded center electrode.
23 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL COOLING SYSTEM Level 2. Tools required: 25 - 50 mm (1 - 2 in.) medium bristle paint brush, Torx L-Wrench T27 Parts Required: None, if you are careful. IMPORTANT To maintain proper engine operating temperatures, cooling air must pass freely through the cylinder fin area.
24 Exhaust Port Cleaning Level 2 Tools required: Wood or plastic scraper, Torx L-Wrench T27 Parts Required: As needed: Muffler gasket 1 . Remove air filter cover. 2 . Remove spark plug lead from spark plug, and remove engine cover (10 screws). 3 . Place piston at top dead center.
25 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL 5 . Inspect muffler gasket, and replace if damaged. 6 . Install muffler gasket and muffler. 7 . Tighten muffler mounting bolts (or nuts) to 95-130 in•lbf (110-150 kgf•cm). 8 . Install engine cover and attach spark plug lead.
26 A Idle Adjustment Before adjustment make sure that: • Air filter is clean and properly installed. • Spark arrestor screen and muffler are free of carbon.
27 P OWER B LOWER O PERA TOR ' S M ANUAL DANGER Fuel vapors are extremely flammable and may cause fire and/or explosion. Never test for ignition spark by grounding spark plug near cylinder plug hole, otherwise serious personal injury may result.
28 S TORAGE W ARNING During operation the muffler or catalytic muffler and surrounding cover become hot. Always keep exhaust area clear of flammable debris during transportation or when storing, otherwise serious property damage or personal injury may result.
