3 About Y our New Labelmak er With y our new D YMO Le tra T ag ™ labelmaker , you can create a wide variety of high- quality, self-adhesive labels . Y ou can choose to print your labels in many differen t sizes and styles. T he labelmak er uses DYMO Let raT ag ( L T ) 12 mm label cassettes.
4 Inserting the Batteries The labe lmaker uses four high-capacity AA alkaline batteries . T o inser t the batteri es 1. Remove the battery compar tment cover . Se e Figure 2 . 2. Inser t the batteries following th e polarity markings (+ and –). 3. Replace the cov e r .
5 Make sur e the labelmaker po wer is turned off before you disconnect the po wer adap ter fr om the main power source. Otherwise, your most re cent memor y settings will be lost. Inserting the Label Cassette Y our labelmaker comes with one la bel cassette.
6 Selec ting a Language The first time you turn on the po wer , y ou are asked t o selec t your desired la nguage. By default , the language is set to English. The language opt ion you choo se determin es the character set and date for mat t hat are avail able.
7 The default date is displayed . 3. Use the le ft or right arr ow key to mo ve the cursor over each setting (month, day , and year) and use the up or down arrow keys to increase or decr ease the value. 4. When finished, pr ess .The default time is display ed.
8 Getting to Know the Labelmak er Become familiar with the locat ion of the feat ure and function k eys on your labelmaker . Refer to Figure 1 on the inside front cover . T he following sections describe each featur e in detail. Pow er The button turns th e power on an d off .
9 CAPS Mode The key to ggl es c api tal izat ion o n or off. When CAPS mode is turned on, the CAPS mo de indica tor is shown on the displa y and all letters tha t you enter will be capi talized. T he default setting is CAPS mode on. When CAPS mode is off, all letters ap pear in lower case.
10 Cancel The key allows you to exit fr om a menu w ithout making a selec tion or to cancel an action. Fo rm at The k ey displays the font size, style, and bor ders submenus. These formatting featur es are described lat er in this User Guide. Insert The key allows you to insert symbols, a second line, or the da te on your label.
11 Changing the Font Size Five font sizes ar e available for your labels: Ex tra Small , Small , Me dium, Large , and Extra Large . When you select a size, that size ap plies to all char ac ters on a label . T o set the font size 1. Pr ess the key. 2.
12 T o set the font style 1. Press . 2. Use the up or down arrow k e ys to select Style and pr ess . 3. Use the up or down arrow k eys to select a font style and press . Creating T wo-Line Labels Y ou can print a maximum of two lines on labels. T o create a two-lin e label 1.
13 Adding Box and Underline Styles Y ou can highlight y our te xt by choosing a box or underline style. A label can be under lined or enclos ed in a box, but not both together . T o add an underline or b ox style 1. Press . 2. Selec t Borders , and press .
14 Using Symbols and Special Characters Symbols and othe r special charac ters can be added to your labels. Adding Symbo ls The labelmaker suppor ts the extended symbol set shown below .
15 T o inser t a symbol 1. Press , select Symb ols , and press . The first row of symbols shown in the tabl e appears in the display . 2. Use the arrow k eys to move to the desired symbol. The left and right arrows move horiz ontally along a row of symbols.
16 Printing Options Y ou can pr eview your label an d adjust the prin ting contrast . Previewing Y our Lab el Y ou can preview the text or format of your label prior to printing . A two-line label is preview ed as a single -line label with a line br eak character be t wee n the two line s.
17 Using Labelmak er Memor y The labelmaker has a pow er ful memor y feature that allows you to store the t ex t of up to nine labels you use frequently . Storing Label T ext Y ou can store up t o nine specific labels you use frequen tly . T o store the current label text 1.
18 Caring for Y o ur Labelmak er Y our labelmaker is designed to give you long and trouble-free ser vice, while re quiring v er y little main tenance . Clean your labelmak er from time to time to k eep it work ing properly . Clean the cutter blad e each time you r eplace the labe l cassette .
