2.2 Inserting the batteries This video camera is desig ned to use a Li-ion or 4xAAA batteries. Only use the batteries supplied or similar batteries recommended by the ma nufactur er or your dealer . Note: Install the battery exactly as described here.
2.3 Charging the battery You can charge the batt ery with the charging unit provided. Insert the battery to the batt ery charger and connect the power cord to the b attery c harge r. 2.4 Turning on the video camera Press and hold the power button to turn the video camera on/off.

2.8. 2 Viewing im ages 1. In Pho to mode, press the Play back button and the most recent image displays on the LCD screen. Playback m ode 2. Press the scroll wheel up and down to scroll through the images. 3. Press the Zoom butto n righ t to zoo m in the picture.
2.9 Connecting to a computer Read this section to learn h ow to transfer files to a PC, show the video clips or photos on TV/DVD. Connect the video camera to a computer with th e USB cable provided. 2.10 Connecting to a standard TV Connect the vide o came ra to a standard T V as s hown wi th the AV cable provided.
2.11 Connecting to a HDTV Read this section to learn how to show the video clips or photos on a HDTV. Co nnecting to a HDTV offers the high res olution for displaying th e video clips or photos. Connec t the vide o came ra to a HDTV as show n with the compo nent video cable and AV cable provided.
3 Using the camera Read this section to learn how to use the camera. 3.1 Movie and voice recorder mode Use this mode to capture video clips or record voic e and store them in an interna l memor y or on an S D card.

3.1. 2 Using the m acro functi on This funct ion can captur e subjects close t o the lens. In m acro mode, subjects can be as close as 14- 15 cm. While in Photo or Movie and voice recorder modes, move the Macro button o n the side o f the vi deo camer a to ac tivate macro functi on, and an icon displays on the LCD screen.

3.5 Thumbnail mode When in Photo Playback or Movie P layback mo des, press the zoom button left to show images as thum bnails. 1. Turn on the video camera and make sure it is in Photo Playback or Movie Pl ayback mo de. 2. The most recent image /video clip displays on the screen.
4 Using the menus Read this section to learn how to configure the camera settings and use the advanced features. 4.1 Movie menu When in Movie mode, press t he MENU butto n to sho w the Mo vie options menu. 4.1. 1. White balance Use this option to correct color difference for different lightin g conditions.
4.1. 2. Video reso lution Use t he reso lutio n optio n to dete rmine the r esoluti on of the captured video. The larger screen size requires more memory storage space. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Movie mode. 2. Press the MENU button and use the scroll wheel to highlig ht the Resolut ion option.
4.1. 3. Color effect The camera can capture videos in stand ard color, black and whit e, and s epia tone. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Movie mode. 2. 4.1. 4. Night mod e Use this function t o shoot a video clip with better quality in dark enviro nments. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Movie mode. 2. 4.2 Movie playback menu Use the playback menu to manage th e files stored in the internal memory or on th e SD card. 4.2. 1 Delete Use this function to delete files. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Movie mo de. Press the Playb ack but ton and then press th e MENU butto n to displ ay the Movie Playb ack menu.
If you select Delete All , press the scroll wheel inw ards to display the submenu. 3. Use the scroll wheel to select √ and press the scroll wheel inwards to delet e . 4. Press the MENU butto n agai n to e xit the menu. Note: Once deleted, files cannot be recovered so make sure you have a backup before you delete.
4.2. 2 Protect Use this function to lock files to prevent accidental delet ion. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Movie mo de. Press the Playb ack but ton and then press th e MENU butto n to displ ay Movie Playback menu. 2. Us e the scroll wheel to select the Pro tect opt io n.
4.3 Photo menu In Phot o mode, press the MEN U button to show the Phot o options menu. 4.3. 1 White balance Use this option to correct color difference due to lighting conditions. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . 2. Press the MENU button and use the scroll wheel to highlig ht the White Balance option.
4.3. 2 Resolu tion Use this option to set the size of the captured image. Larger images contain more detail and therefore use more memory space. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . 2. Press the MENU button and use the scroll wheel to highlig ht the Resolut ion option.
4.3. 3 Color effect The camera can capture images in st andard color, black and wh ite, and s epia tone. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . 2. Press the MENU button and use the scroll wheel to highlig ht the Effe ct option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to displ ay the sub menu.
4.3. 4 Night mod e Use this function t o shoot a better video clip quality in dark enviro nments. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Movie mode. 2. Press the MENU button and use the scroll wheel to highlig ht the Night Mode option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to displ ay the sub menu.
4.3. 5 Self-timer Use the self timer function t o take a phot o o f yourself. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . 2. Press the MENU button and use the scroll wheel to highlig ht the Sel f-timer option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to displ ay the sub menu.
4.4 Photo playback menu 4.4. 1 Delete Use this function to delete files. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . Press the Playb ack butt on and then press the MEN U butto n to displ ay the Phot o Playback menu . 2. Us e the scroll wheel to select the Delete One or D elete All options.
If you select Delete All , press the scroll wheel inw ards to display the submenu. 3. Use the scroll wheel to select √ and then press th e scroll wheel inwards to delete. 4. Press the MENU butto n agai n to e xit the menu. Note : Once deleted, files cannot b e recovered so make sure you have a backup before you delete.
4.4. 2 Protect Use this function t o protect files. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . Press the Playb ack butt on and then press the MEN U butto n to displ ay the Phot o Playback menu . 2. Us e the scroll wheel to select the Pro tect opt io n.
4.4. 3 Slide s how The camera includes a slide show function, which displays each image in turn with a regular int erval between pictures. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . Press the Playb ack butt on and then press the MEN U butto n to displ ay the Phot o Playback menu .
4.4. 4 DPOF Use the DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) fun ction to tag pictures stored in the memory card with print inform ation. 1. Turn the video camera on and ensure it is in Photo mode . Press the Playb ack butt on and then press the MEN U butto n to displ ay the Phot o Playback menu .

This function can help you capture a better ph oto/video clip.
4.5. 3 Auto power off Use this function t o switch the camera off automatically after a period of inact ivi ty f or power saving. 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to SET mode . 2. Use the scroll wheel to highligh t the Auto Power Off option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to display the submenu .
4.5. 4 TV standard Use the TV option to set the TV system for the area. 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to SET mode . 2. Use the scroll wheel to highligh t the TV standard option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to display the submenu. 3. Use the scroll wheel to select NTSC or PAL , and press the scroll wheel inwards to confirm.
4.5. 5 Format Use this function t o format the current storage media. This format action will delete everything on the media. 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to SET mode . 2. Use the scroll wheel to highligh t the For mat option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to display the submenu.
4.5. 6 Default Use this option to reset all settin gs to the default sett ings. 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to SET mode . 2. Use the scroll wheel to highligh t the Default option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to display the submenu. 3. Use the scroll wheel to select X or √ , and press the scroll wheel inwards to confirm.
4.5. 8 Frequenc y Use the Frequency option to set the frequency system for your area. To set the frequency: 1. Turn on the video camera and switch to SET mode . 2. Use the scroll wheel to highligh t the Frequency option. Press the scroll wheel inwards to display the submenu.
5 Installing the software Read this section to learn h ow to i nstall t he software for the camera. 5.1 NewSoft VideoWorks Presto! Video Wo rks is an adva nced software application for editing video. To install NewSof t VideoWorks: 1. Insert the supplied CD into the CD-ROM drive.
5.2 NewSoft Mr. Photo NewSoft Mr. Photo is an advan ced photo editing software application. To inst all NewSoft Mr. Photo: 1. Insert the supplied CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. If the CD-ROM does not automatically boot, use Windows Explorer to execute the InstallMgr.
5.3 Quick Time Quick Time is an easy-to-use app lication for playing th e video clips stored in the camera or on the SD/MMC card. To install the Quick Tim e: 1. Insert the supplied CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. If the CD-Rom does not automatically boot, use Window Explore to execute the InstalMgr.
