Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–4 Both types of metadata can be exam ined, modified, or passed through during encoding. Table A-1 lists the active metada ta param eters and indicates if each parameter is inform ational or control. Table A-1 Metadata Parameters Extended Bitstream Informatio n parameters are in italics.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–5 When received at the con sumer’s Dolby Digital d ecoder, this parameter setting determines the level shif t in the decoder that se ts, or normalizes, the average audio output of the decoder to a preset level.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–6 The most important point to remember is th at in setting the dialogue level parameter, you are providing your listener with an esse ntial service. For y our listeners, setting this level properly means: • The volume level is consiste nt with other programs.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–7 Note: While the use of DRC m odes during decoding is a co nsumer-selectable feature, the dialogu e level param eter setting is not. T herefore, the proper setting of the dialogue level parameter is essential before pre v iewing a DRC profile.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–8 A.3.3 Dynamic Range Control Profiles Six preset DRC profiles are available to content producer s: Film Light, Film Standard, Music Light, Music Standard, Speech, and None. Each is applied in the pattern shown in Figure A-2.

Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–12 A.5.1 Universal Parameters Universal parameters are present in a ll Dolby Digital encoders and decoders. Dialogue Level The Dialogue Level parameter is discussed in Section A.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–13 whether the LFE Channel parame ter can be set. You must ha ve at least th ree channels in order to be able to add an LFE channel. LFE Channel Setting Enable Disable Bitstream Mode This parameter describes the audio serv ice contained within the Dolby Digita l bitstream.

Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–15 Center Downmix Level When the encoded audio has three front channels (L, C, R), but the consumer has only left and right front speakers, this pa rameter indicates the nominal downmix level for the center channel with respect to th e left and right channels.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–16 Table A-7 Dolby Surround Mode Dolby Surround Mode Setting Definition Not Dolby Surround default The bitstream contains information that was not Dolby Surround encoded. Dolby Surround The bitstream contains information that was Dolby Surround encoded.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–17 Room Type Setting Not Indicated Large Small Copyright Bit This parameter indicates whether the enc oded Dolby Digital bitstream is copyright protected. It has no affect on Dolby Digital decoders and is purely for information.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–18 frequency signals that are not encoded. At th e suitable data rates this f ilter operates above 20 kHz. In all cases it prevents a liasing on decoding and is normally switched on. This parameter is not passed to the consumer decoder.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–19 Surround Phase Shift This parameter causes the Dolby Digita l en coder to apply a 90-d egree phase shift to the surround channels.
Model DP569 User’s Manu al Metadata A–20 Lt/Rt Center Mix Level This parameter indicates the level sh ift app lied to the center channel when adding to the left and right outputs when downmixing to an Lt/Rt output. Its operation is similar to the center downm ix level in the universal m etadata.
