5 © 1999 Directed Electr onics, In c. T r ansmitter Functions The r eceiver uses a computer-based Learn Routine to learn th e tran smitter buttons . This m akes it possible to assi gn any r emote tran smitter button, or combinati on o f buttons , to any r eceiver functi on.
U sing Y our Sy stem Y ou can turn on, or arm, the system by pr essing of your tr ans- mitter for on e second . Wh en the system arm s, you will h ear a short sir en sound , or chirp, an d see the parkin g ligh ts flash once . If the vehi cle’s power door locks ar e con trolled by th e system, the doors will lock.
When armed, your v ehicle is protected in the f ollo wing way s: ■ Ligh t impacts will trigg er th e W arn Away® si gnal. Wh en tri g- ger ed, th e sir en will chirp and th e parking li ghts will flash f or a few seconds . ■ Heavy impacts will tri gger th e system.

If power locks are con trolled by th e system, th e doors will unlock. If th e siren chirps either f our or five times wh en disarmin g, see Diagn ostics section.
9 © 1999 Directed Electr onics, In c. T o disarm without a transmitter: T urn on th e igniti on. Push the V alet ® switch within 15 seconds . The sys- tem should n ow disarm. If it does not, you m ay have waited too long, so turn the i gnition o ff an d on and try again.
