Refer to them often and use them to instruct others. 1. DO NOT OPERA TE THIS MACHINE UNTIL it is assembled and installed accor ding to the instructions.
4 POWER CONNECTIONS IMPORT ANT : Make sure the electrical characteristics ar e the same between the motor nameplate and the power source and make sur e the power cir cuit the machine will be used on is properly fused and that wir e size is corr ect. IN ALL CASES, MAKE SURE THE RECEPT ACLE IN QUESTION IS PROPERL Y GROUNDED.
5 Use proper extension cor ds. Make sur e your extension cord is in good condition and is a 3-wir e extension cor d which has a 3-prong gr ounding type plug and matching r eceptacle which will accept the machine’ s plug. When using an extension cord, be sur e to use one heavy enough to carry the curr ent of the machine.
6 ASSEMBL Y ST AND AND ELECTRICALS If you purchased your machine with the optional steel stand and electricals, the stand is shipped as shown in Fig. 2. The switch (A) Fig. 2 and motor (B) Fig. 3 are completely assembled to the stand and the necessary wiring from the motor to the switch has been completed.
7 ALIGNING PULLEYS, ASSEMBLING BEL T AND ADJUSTING BEL T TENSION DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER SOURCE Using a straight edge (A) Fig. 6, make certain the motor pulley (B) is aligned with the arbor pulley .
8 OPERA TING CONTROLS AND ADJUSTMENTS ST AR TING AND STOPPING THE ABRASIVE FINISHING MACHINE T o start the machine, push “ON” button (A) Fig. 10. T o stop the machine, push “OFF” button (B).
9 ADJUSTING T ABLE DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER SOURCE. T o tilt the table, loosen the table tilting handle (A) Fig. 15, move the table to the desired angle, and tighten the table tilting handle. The table tilting handle can be reposition- ed by pulling out the handle and repositioning it on the hex nut located underneath the handle.
10 INST ALLING OR REMOVING ABRASIVE BEL T Y our machine uses a 6"x48" belt. T o install or remove the belt, proceed as follows: DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER SOURCE. 1. Remove the idler drum guard (A) and side guar d (B) Fig. 20. 2. T ur n the belt tension handle counter clockwise to reduce belt tension to a minimum.
