Data striping is a method of writing consecutive segments, or stripes, of data sequentially across the physical drives to create a lar ge virtual drive.

Removing and Installing Parts 83 Connecting Drive Cables When you install a drive, you connect two cables— a DC power cable and a data cable—to the back of the drive and to the system boar d. Some drives may also have an audio connector; one end of the audio cable attaches to the dr ive connector and the other end attaches to the system board.

Removing and Installing Parts 97 Installing the Processor Airflow Shroud 1 Attach both fan power cables to the connectors on the system board. 2 Align the anchor tabs with the securing slots. 3 Gently press the shroud until the anchor tabs snap secur ely into place.
98 Removing and Installing Parts www .dell.com | support.dell.com CAUTION: The heat sink can get very hot during normal operation. Be su re that the heat sink has had sufficient time to cool b efore you touch it. 5 Remove the heat sink: a Remove the retention module clips.

Leave the release lever extended in the r elease position so that the socket is ready for the new processor . Installing the Processor NOTICE: Ground yourself by touching an unpainted metal surface on th e back of the computer .
Removing and Installing Parts 101 NOTICE: Socket pins are delicate. T o avoid damage, en sure that the pr ocessor is aligned properly with the socket, and do not use excessive force when you install the pr ocess. Be careful not to touch or bend the pins on the sy stem board.

NOTICE: Ensure the heat sink is co rrectly seated and secure.
