If your machine is attached to a network, skip the following steps below and go on to installing a n etwork connected machine’s driver (see "Installing driver over th e network" on page 81).

Media and tray 29 2. Learning the Basic Usage To print an envelope, place it as shown in the following figure. If envelopes are printed out with wrinkles, crease, or black bold lines, open the rear cover and try printing again. Keep the rear cove r opened during printing.

Maintenance Redistributing toner When the toner cartridge is near the end of its life: • White streaks or light printing occurs and/or density variat ion side to side. • The Toner LED blinks yellow. If this happens, you can temporari ly improve print quality by redistributing the remaining tone r in the cartridge.
43 3. Maintenance Replacing the toner cartridge • Before opening the front cover, close the output support first. • Do not use sharp objects such as a knife or scissors to open th e toner cartridge package. They might scratch the drum of the c artridge.
44 3. Maintenance Cleaning the machine If printing quality problems occur or if yo u use your machine in a dusty environment, you need to clean yo ur machine regularly to keep it in the best printing condition and use yo ur machine longer.

106 4. Special features Altitude adjustment Print quality is affected by at mospheric pressure, which is deter mined by the height of the ma chine above sea level. The follow ing information will guide you on how to set your machine fo r the best print quality.
