46 Using Multimedia T o format CDs for storing data, to create music CDs, or to copy CDs, see the CD software that came with your computer . Using Multimedia 47 Using Blank CDs and DVDs CD-R W drives can write to CD recording media only (including high-speed CD-R W media) while DVD-writable drives can write to both CD and D VD recor ding media. Use blank CD-Rs to recor d music or permanently store data files.
48 Using Multimedia • Commercially available D VD players used in home theater systems may not support all available DVD formats. F or a list of formats supported by your D V D player , see the documentation provided with your D VD player or contact the manufacturer .
Using Multimedia 49 Adjusting the Picture If an error message notifies you that the current r esolution and color depth are using too much memory and preventing D VD playback, adjust the display properties. 1 Click Start → Control P anel → Appearance and Themes .

NOTE: Y ou can connect an S-video cable directly to the S-video TV-out con nector on the com puter (without the TV/digital audio adapter c able) if your TV or audio device supports S-video but not S/ PDIF digital audio.

80 Solving Problems The computer runs the P re-boot System Assessment, a series of initial tests of your system board, keyboar d, hard drive, and display . • During the assessment, answer any questions that appear . • If a failure is detected, the computer stops and beeps.
