Setting Up and Using Y our Computer 15 Blank DVD+/-Rs can be used to permanently stor e large amounts of information. After you create a DV D+/-R disc, you may not be able to write to that disc again if the disc is "finalized" or "closed" during the final stage of the disc creation process.

If you make a mistak e, you can erase the data on the CD-RW and try again. Y ou can also use blank CD-R Ws to test music file projects before you re cor d the project permanently to a blank CD-R.

38 Advanced T roubleshooting Drivers What Is a Driver? A driver is a program that controls a device such as a printer , mouse, or keyboar d. All devices require a driver program. A driver acts like a translator betw een the device and any other programs that use the device.
Advanced T roubleshooting 39 Using Windows XP Device Driver Rollback If a problem occurs on your computer after you install or update a dr iver , use W indows XP Device Driver Rollback to replace the driver with the pr eviously installed version. 1 Click the Start button and click Control P anel .
40 Advanced T roubleshooting • Dell PC Restore by Symantec r estores your har d drive to the operating state it was in when you purchased the computer . Dell PC Restore permanently deletes all data on th e har d drive and removes any applications installed after you received the co mputer .
Advanced T roubleshooting 41 5 Click Next . The Restoration Complete screen appears after System Restor e f inishes collecting data and then the computer restarts. 6 After the computer restarts, click OK . T o change the restor e point, you can either repeat t he steps using a different r estore point, or you can undo the restoration.
42 Advanced T roubleshooting 2 Immediately upon seeing the blue bar , press <Ctrl><F11>. If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let th e computer finish starting, and then r estart the computer again. NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

This means that if you purchased your computer with 128 MB of memory in stalled and you want to add another 128 MB of memory , you should install it in the appropriate connector .
