ASSEMBLY NOTE: Reference to right and lefthandside of the snowthrower is fromthe operator's position at the handle. UNPACKING 1. Using knife, cut along the dotted lines around the top andbottom of carton. Then remove carton material as shown in Figure 2.
ASSEMBLY UPPER HANDLE AND CRANK ASSEMBLY 1. Loosen, but do not remove the screws, flatwashers, Iockwashers, and hex nutsin the upper holes of the lower handle (see Figure 4). 2. Remove the fasteners andthe crank assembly eyebolt fromthe lower holes of the lower handle.
ASSEMBLY SPEED SELECT LEVER ASSEMBLY 1. Cutplastic tie (A, Figure 7) securing speed select lever assembly (B) to the shifter bracket (C). 2. Remove Iocknut (A, Figure 8), washer (B), spring (C),andbolt (D). NOTE: View is fromright side of unit standing in operator's position.
ASSEMBLY SNOW CHUTE ASSEMBLY NOTE: The chuteringassembly (A, Figure 10)comes installed on the unit fromthe factory. 1. Turn crank assembly (Figure 4) until the arrow on outer ring (B, Figure 10)of chuteringassembly points forward. NOTE: Make sure the slot in the chute ring aligns with the arrow onthe outer ring.

Electric Start Button -- Used to start the engine using the electric starter. C. Primer Button -- Used to inject fuel directly into the carburetor manifold to ensure fast starts in cool weather.
OPERATION BEFORE OPERATING SNOW THROWER Check the fasteners.Make sure all fasteners are tight. Read this OPERATOR'S MANUAL and OPERATOR SAFETY before operating your snow thrower. Comparethe illustrations withyour SNOW THROWER to familiarize yourself with the location of var- ious controls and adjustments.
OPERATION ,_ WARNING: Read Operator's Manual before operating machine. This machine can be dangerous if used carelessly. ,, Never operate the snow thrower without all guards,covers, shields in place. ,, Never direct discharge towards windows or allow bystandersnear machine while engine is running.
OPERATION FiLL THE FUEL TANK Thisengine is certified to operate on gasoline. Exhaust Emission Control System: EM (Engine Modifications). Fill the fuel tank withfresh, clean, unleaded regular, unleaded.
OPERATION 9. Electric Start: Depress the starter push button (A, Figure 21). After you start the engine, first disconnect the extension cord from the wall receptacle and then from the power cord receptacle (B). Inserting Safety Key Figure 19 7. OPERATION CLEAR A CLOGGED DISCHARGE CHUTE ,_ WARNING:Hand contact with the rotating impeller inside the discharge chute is the most common cause of injury associated with snow throwers. Never clear or unclog discharge chute with your hands, or while engine is running.

MAINTENANCE LUBRICATE AUGER GEAR BOX The auger gear box is lubricated at the factory and should not require additional lubrication. If for some reason the lubricant should leak out, or if the auger gear box has been serviced, add Lubriplate GR132 Grease or equivalent.
MAINTENANCE ENGINE MAINTENANCE Check Crankcase Oil Level - Before starting engine and after each 8 hours of continuous use. Add the recommended motor oil as required. NOTE: Over filling the engine can affect performance. Tighten the oil fill cap securely to prevent leakage.
CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG Remove the Snow Hood 1. Remove the choke control knob (A, Figure 28). 2. Remove the safety key(B). 3. Remove the mounting screws (A, Figure 29). 4. Slowlyremove the snowhood(B) Make sure that the primer button hose (C) andthe ignition wire (D) arenot disconnected.
MAINTENANCE Check and Replace Spark Plug Check the spark plugevery twenty-five (25) hours. Replace the spark plug (Figure 31)if the electrodes arepitted or burned or if the porcelain is cracked. 1. Remove snowhood(see "Remove the Snow Hood" section).
MAINTENANCE BELT ADJUSTMENT Traction Drive Belt The traction drive belt has constant spring pressure anddoes not require anadjustment. If the traction drive belt is slipping,replace the belt. See au- thorized dealer. Auger Drive Belt If your snowthrower will not discharge snow, check the control cable adjust- ment.
MAINTENANCE BELT GUIDE ADJUSTMENT 1. Remove spark plug wire. 2. Have someone engage the auger drive. This will engage auger idler pulley (A, Figure 35). 3. Measure the distance between the belt guide(B)and belt (C).The distance should beabout 1/8 inch (3 ram).
MAINTENANCE Traction Drive Cable 1. Remove the gas fromthe gas tank. Stand the snow thrower upon the frontendof the auger housing. _ ARNING: Drain the gasoline outdoors, away from fire or flame. 2. Loosen the bolts(A, Figure 38)on each side of the bottom panel (B).
MAINTENANCE AUGER SHEAR PiN REPLACEMENT The augers aresecured to the auger shaft with special shear pins thatare designed to break if an objectbecomes lodged in the auger housing. Use of a harder grade shear pinwill reduce the protection provided by the shear pin.
OFF SEASON STORAGE WARNING: Never store the engine, with fuel in the tank, indoorsor in a poorventilated enclosure where fuel fumes could reach an open flame, spark or pilot light as on a furnace, water heater, clothes dryer, etc.
TROUBLESHOOT/NG PROBLEM LOOK FOR REMEDY Free-Hand TM controlis ACTIVE. Release both auger controlandtraction/Free-Hand TM controllevers to stop auger. Auger does not stop within Auger drive belt out of Adjustauger belt. j5 seconds after right adjustment.
TROLIBLESHOOT/NG PROBLEM LOOK FOR REMEDY Scraper bar does not clean Skid shoesimproperly adjusted. Raise or lower skid shoes. hard surface. Drive belt loose or damaged. Replace drive belt.See authorized dealer. Unit fails to propel itself. Incorrect adjustment of traction Adjusttraction control cable.
