3-6 Compaq UPS R3000 XR Maintenance and Service Gu ide Modes of Operation The UPS has four m odes of ope ration: St andby, Operate, Configure, an d Auto-Bypass. Standby Mode Place the UPS in St andby mode by pres sing the STANDBY button o n the front panel.
Removal and Replacement Procedures 3-7 Powering Down the UPS To completely remo v e power from the UPS: 1. Power down all equipment being su pported by the UPS (att ached loads). 2. Place the UPS in S tandby mode by pressing the STANDB Y button on the front panel.

3-16 Compaq UPS R3000 XR Maintenance and Servic e Guide Replacing the UPS Unit To replace the UPS: 1. Power down th e UPS. Follow the proc edur e in “Power ing Down the UPS,” in th is chapter. 2. Turn all battery circuit breakers on the ERMs (one circuit brea ker each) to the Off positi on.
Removal and Replacement Procedures 3-17 6. Remove the UPS front bezel. 7. Remove the screws that s ecure the UPS to the front of the rac k. 8. Remove the UPS from the rack. 9. To replace the UPS, place the new unit in the rac k and reverse steps 1 through 7.
